We are very pleased to release our latest sets of models for the 15mm Early Achaemenid Persian range, the Persian elite cavalry and the early Greek hoplites. These are suitable for the period of the Persian invasions of Greece -- very early fifth century BC.
The Persians had a massive and potent cavalry force that the Greeks could not hope to match, and the core of this mounted force was an elite of well-protected cavalry. These are available in three poses.
In the fifth century BC the Greeks were not all foes of the Achaemenids -- some were important subjects or allies as well. Our new transitional hoplite set can be used as Ionian subjects, Theban allies, or of course the many Greek states who were foes of the Persians. Their equipment shows the transition taking place at the time of the Persian invasions, from the solid bronze cuirass to the bronze-reinforced linothorax -- two poses have the older solid cuirass, the other two have the linen armour. Helmets and crests are as appropriate for the invasion period, the equipment being a little more old fashioned in appearance than the classic hoplite look of the Peloponnesian War.
These new sets supplement the existing sparabara and immortal sets. Available now! We would like to thank Duncan Head for his assistance with the representation of these models.
