Monster Monday! Episode One: The Terrors from Beneath

Mike has cooked up a new initiative to shine a spotlight on some of our largest beasties.  We'll thus be profiling a monster each Monday throughout the Kickstarter campaign and making it available as a Booster: some old, some new, some split out from existing Boxes, others completely standalone Boosters.  This being our inaugural Monday, we're kicking off with a double bill:

I've just put all the Week One unlocks together in a single image to send off to a few websites.  Wow, looks mighty impressive when you see it all at once like that.  Week 2 will probably be a little slower, but what a great start.  Thanks to everyone that's helped to make this happen!  And if you haven't backed us yet, we hope to still see you in the next 25 days.

In a little over an hour, we'll be opening up 13 new 'Early-Bird' pledge slots, which will net you $640 worth of goodies for a $460 pledge. It's the deepest discount we've offered so far! Watch for 'The Council of Thirteen' to launch at 10 Pacific/1 Eastern/6 UK/7 Central Europe. And even if you don't want to take that deep a plunge, other Early Bird spots may re-open if previous backers upgrade...

And another Stretch Goal down!  During the wee hours of the night, the ritual was completed, unleashing....  the Summoning Box!



Our next goal, now less than $2,300 away, is the Card Deck Booster.  Along with an enhanced version of our old Twisted Fate Deck, this contains something many of you have been asking us to add to the game for quite some time: a Solo Play deck.  It took us some time to come up with a mechanic that we were really pleased with, but I think you'll find this action card-based approach will prove to be worth the wait.

Finally, 7 positions have been claimed on The Council of Thirteen.  Only 6 remain...

I'm getting quite a few requests to see some unpainted model close-ups.  Here's a selection including three of the Agents from the Threshold Booster, a Cultist from the Starter Box/Cult Booster, and Fishman Demagogue from the Innsmouth Box.  The scale doesn't quite match up between the photos - for reference, the base sizes on all the models are the same:

Also a new Stretch Goal revealed for $35,000: the Arcane Relics Box, containing the previously very limited King in Yellow...

Stretch Goals will be a little more fast and furious (and consistent) now, coming in at every $2,500 of additional funding.  Furthermore, every other Stretch Goal (as opposed to every third) will now be an Upgrade, featuring a FREE model.  More stuff to cheer about, more often!

I think it's a good idea to do more of this. I don't know if it's that the photos are too small or if it's the paint jobs, but the miniatures look much better up close and unpainted than they do on the kickstarter website in my opinion.

Solo play is such a great idea - I can then play a few games in between our two-player sessions, when my gaming buddy gets to control Treshold. And I know a guy in Svendborg who'll love this idea, as he has the game, but rarely the opportunity to play (although I think with my gaming attic in place, we shall be able meet up on a more regular basis). Off to pimp him this...
