I believe he paints the entire building creme (or white), and drybrushes it with various tones of red brick.

He'll have to verify that though!  :D
Rob is correct.  I first paint the whole frontage in the mortar colour.
Once that has completely dried I drybrush the brick colour on, working from a dark to lighter shade.
This must be done at 45' to the brick courses so that the mortar isnt overpainted.

Build the colour up gradually as, if you use too much paint on the brush it will go everywhere rather than just on the raised brick detail.
I then paint random individual bricks in a couple of different shades, usually by adding dark brown or dark blue to the base brick colour.
The difference that painting a few bricks in other colours is significant, it makes the brickwork look far less uniform & hence realistic.

FYI the latest frontages are now on the OWS website: http://www.outpostwargameservices.co.uk/buildings.html
Railways arches, add-ons & pavements.

I hope to have painted versions done by the end of the weekend.

cool...

the pavements have a line at the opposite side to the kerb... I assume you're attaching the frontages onto that line as opposed to the rear as it says on the site?

Apologies for the belated reply, I somehow missed your post. ::)

Yes, the frontage sits on top of the rearmost part of the pavement, as here:

Here are the newly painted frontages:

BF1. Railway Arches (x2) & BF2. Lock-ups:

BF1. Railway Arches (x2) & BF5. House/Arches conversions:

Very nice :)

A couple of questions though:

1) How did you base the corporate building? Is that a piece of cork?
2) I've just drawn in bricks at around 1cm x 0.5 cm, which I think is too big, your ones look perfect, how big are they?
3) Why haven't you answered my pm?  ;D

Some great work as always!

1)  If you mean the bank, its based on 3mm thick MDF, as are most of my buildings.

2)  I assume you mean the bank again.

The blocks are (from memory as I am at work) 10mm x 5mm.  I used embossed plastic card for this one.

3)  Oops.  :-X  PM now sent.

Sorry, I should clarify. The one I meant was the office block. It looked a bit orange to be MDF is all :) Thanks for getting back to me!

Sorry about the wacky suggestion . I have been watching some Hale and Pace Utube Vids and thought some Cabbies would look good for a Geezers game.

Nice one Dan.  lol   I already have one black cab for my games, picked up for 50p from a car boot sale.

Less than 24 hrs to Salute & I'm still painting!  :o
Not panicking yet though  :D

Here's some WIPs of the terrace rear:

I've built it in the same way as the pub back yard, so that it can be used with or without the terrace.

I will add each privvy roof & door & the back gates after the rest is painted.
