"Kryomek" Walker........WIP
« on: 26 August 2008, 02:49:11 PM »
Just a quick pic of a Kryomek Walker by Scotia Grendel which I'm working on.
It is a "Fenris" walker with modded guns and some WW2 stowage added. The mini is a converted Artizan mini for size comparison.
I see this as a fast mid-level walker ( more a PzIII than a Tiger) with a relatively light weapon load-out, suited for hit and run tactics along side my Sturm Grenadiers.

Could probably do with some panels added(or detail removed) for putting insignia on.

I agree with Curtis: it would be not much of a challenge to PM to make some "skirt" (Schürzen) armour as per PzKwIII Ausf M for the turret of the walker, making it look "German" instantly.

I would agree to adding some more detail to it to make it more obviously WW2. Now the body still looks a bit too busy/scifi-y.

Thanks for the comments guys!
I might well have a go at doing some Schürzen to give it that WW2 vibe.

Since I've never seen one of these models in the flesh, I can't really tell what the part behind the turret represents.  I would advice to place the Schürzen in front of this part (even if this means they will be "half" (but still rounded at the back) Schürzen) because it will place the commander's hatch close to the back of the Schürzen as is the case with a PzKwIII.  I would also advice to have a (bust) commander stick out of the hatch as can be seen in many WWII PzKwIII pics.  It will enhance the "PzKwIII touch" IMHO.

Those Kryomek walkers are nice models.  I'm interested to see how the conversion looks- I've never been brave enough to try to "weird war-ify" a straight sci-fi model.  I'm usually worried that it will still look too futuristiv.

Errr...... I've been a little side-tracked.....
I'm going to "Box in" the legs a bit to make them look less futuristic and make up some Schürzen to get rid of that Star Wars vibe it's got going on!!!
Just finding the time.......

Just a quick question - those pieces protecting the legs are from a Robogear mech, aren't they?

And congratulations on another great project. Your conversions/models are one of the reasons I finally decided to join the forum.
