Love it! Beautiful figures - this looks like a great fun day. Weren't the Aquilonians in the Conan stories essentially Romans anyway? Or was the Nemedians?

Pretty sure it was the Aquilonians.

Seeing the counters are you using the old Grenadier fantasy rules? Great to see these barbarians in action.

According to me, the army of the Hyborian Age that is closest to the armies of Romans and Greeks is that of the kingdom of Argos, perhaps more greek than roman, but with a certain approximation we may also use the miniatures of the Legionaries. Aquilonia is more typically medieval, with archers with longbow (Bossonians), derived from the English of the Hundred Years' War. Ditto for the Heavy Cavalry.
We for our Imperial Legion we were inspired by the novels of Turtledove's cycle of the "Lost Legion".

He,
yes, that's right, we use the Fantasy Warriors rules for our battles, with some additions and change that we made in order to play even the armies inspired by those historians, such as the Roman Legion.
To avoid confusion, and in agreement with Mr. Grazzini owner of the Mirliton, which he holds the rights on the game, we called our version "Naran Fantasy Wars."

The version we used is freely downloadable from our website:
http://www.naran.it/naran - page "Naran Fantasy Wars" - page "Regole (Rules)".

Naran is the name we have given to a fantasy world designed by us.

We have extended much the armies - more then 60 compared to 11-12 of last Grenadier's version, making corrections with regard to the mounted troops and the terrible creatures, especially with regard to Saving Throws and with the introduction of the "Wounds". But basically it remains Fantasy Warriors.
I'm sorry, but the text is only in Italian language.

Any chance translating and making said rules available in English did love many aspects of these rules. Did find free download of said rules with army lists for anyone interested - http://www.grenadier.it/fantasy-warriors-ruleset.php
