Reaper Bones - drybrushing madness!

Thought I'd share a bunch of the Reaper Bones monsters that I've painted up recently.  Basically an awful lot of drybrushing and washing for the basic colours, then finishing off details with the usual layered approach.

Apologies for the crummy camera phone pictures - overexposed and a little out of focus!

28mm Spyglass elf for scale.

Earth Elemental.  LOVE the dinosaur fossil.



Spirit of the Forest - brilliant figure, really easy to get striking results with.



Beholder - it's all about the eye, isn't it?



Demon - not sure he would have grass on his base, but never mind.



Owlbear - very silly model, but fun.



Griffon - love this one too.



Bone Giant - although I drybrushed this one, I may go back and paint the bones properly.  Drybrushing the light colours may make it a little too scruffy.

The Big Guys painted up WONDERFULLY...Bones seem to do quite well with the larger figures. GREAT WORK!

They look great! I like the griffin best, as for the bone giant some thinned bleached bone should do the trick painted neatly on the bone, maybe after that pick out the gaps between the bones with some brown ink

I love them all, but the demon is my favorite. I realize it wasn't the hardest one to paint, but sometimes NOT going overboard is a skill too.

And this is why Bones is good for monsters.  That whole lot could be had in the U.S. for maybe $50...possibly less.  The cost of one beast that size in metal normally runs $25-30.  I too have made use of Bones for several large beasties.

No worries about the paint chipping either, a huge worry with metal models.  On Bones figures, wings and arms that get bent don't even crack the paint.

I must remember to get me some bones for dungeon crawl/adventuring when I start my daughters down that slippery slope

Nice Job. Your results are really sharp.
 I've got the Owlbear and Griffon waiting for me.  This makes me want to dig them out and get to work.
