I only just found this from your link on a palm trees thread and I'm glad you did. I've read the whole thing in one go and thoroughly enjoyed it; it's had Carry On humour,  well crafted scenery and good figure painting, and tips and advice on everything from finishing plastic palm trees to using bluefoam. Excellent work Gary! I don't know how you will get past all that gentlemanly conduct and encourage BLAM players to attack each other though?

Cheers

Very nicely done. Great work on those figures.  :D

Are you going to add any with camels?

Next up are some Bedouin Cavalry.

The first one is the leader - Sheik Yabouti.  He is based on the Gring 40s Rasuli figure.

Next some tribesmen.

The first of many more (actually about 6) to come.

I think I've taken a fancy to this! Oh-oh..... as they say  :D :)

Thanks for the compliments.

That is too funny!

It certainly is.  lol lol

I pondered whether the rules need any artificial adjustments to produce animosity but then I looked at the members of my own club and thought what the hell.... all wargamers are alike.   It just comes out in spades at BLAM.   lol lol

As an aside I do have an animosity card which produces a similar result to the BLAM effect for those more squeamish (or honourable) players and almost forces the players to adopt a certain BLAM like attitude even if they hadn't planned it that way!!!!

I think I've taken a fancy to this! Oh-oh..... as they say  :D :)
Darrell.

My advice...take the plunge.  :D

It's on my list..... I've got a gazillion Beja to splash with a bit of colour first!

Thanks and yup, just waiting for them to be delivered from Artizan, plus a few kneeling camels as markers, obstacles or general period pieces and scene setters.

Re: Follow that Camel - Bo West and Shock Markers - 24 Jan
« Reply #113 on: 24 January 2015, 10:34:57 AM »
Although not my original idea, I created a marker to show shock.  Each unit will have a marker like this:

When a unit receives any shock, the amount is shown by adding a dice into the recess like this:

The difference in dice colour allows me show when more than 12 shock points are accumulated, by making the red dice show 2 points of shock for every pip.  Thus we can show from 0-24 shock points.

As for additional figures, here's one I painted earlier.  I present Bertram Oliphant West or as his friends call him 'Bo' West.

The figure is converted from one of Mason's ranges with a French Foreign Legion head transposed and a neck covering modelled from green stuff.  It was originally painted for the BLAM painting competition.

Next up are Lady Jane Ponsonby and Cork Tip.

Great stuff!!

I'm thinking of using casualties for my games in the Sudan. I don't know what I'll be using for the NWF (Artizan doesn't do any casualties as of yet) but I may well use something similar to what you've made.

As I explained in an earlier post the game includes some non-player characters that build the narrative.  First up are two of the ladies:

Cork Tip

Lady Jane Ponsonby (awful camera work has spoilt the painting effect)

Mark Lowther from Unfeasibly Miniatures sent me one of his camel mounted tuareg which I have to say is a fantastic sculpt mounted on an Ebob camel.  Here he is painted up.  I intend to order a dozen more as soon as Black Hat starts stocking them.
