The Ogre is a FANTASTIC piece, BEAUTIFULLY painted & based. It's much better than I had imagined that mini could be. VERY WELL DONE!

You're too kind guys!
DeafNala, cheers man.
Affun, I agree completely, I've never liked the old ogres. For some reason though, this one really grew on me during painting and I like him now. Very characterful sculpt, I think. I don't know the ruleset you're talking about, but the tiles are pretty easy to make, so good luck with them!
Cap'n, grand! I've got a skaven warlord knocking about somewhere, so that's one more sorted then. Chaos warriors I've got in droves, so no worries there. Also, let's see what slayer gets to him first - I seem to remember mine doing ok during the Mordheim game...  ;)

Time for an Update! I had a few hours this weekend to get some painting done:

In short, we're looking at the villain in the first scenario and what will hopefully become a player character. Guess who's who.
We've settled on the new edition of D&D. I haven't played D&D since somewhere around my late teens, so I'm really looking forward to have a go at the new edition. The dungeon tiles will work well as the Lost Mines of Phandelver, I should think.

Not what I was expecting from the topic title but luverly stuff all the same. :D Klarg's skintones are excellent, and that Bretonnian conversion is brill.  :-* (But put a wee bit more yellow in the putty!)

Nice stuff here, compliments.

May I ask where "Klarg" comes from?

Looking forward to see more of you guys.

I agree, the topic title can be a bit misleading, but The Hobbit is my very favourite fantasy novel/coming of age novel/road novel, and so I thoughtit appropriate.
I shall endeavour to up the yellow part of my Green stuff. It's always been a bit of a mystery to me with the ratio, and most of the time I refrain from sculpting because of that.

@Comsquare Thanks! Klarg The Bugbear is from Reaper Minis. He's one of a pack of two Bugbears in what, if I recall correctly, is titled Bugbear Warriors from their Dark Heaven Legends series. All metal, so no bones here.

I might add that his weapon is a conversion I made from the GW empire flagellants sprue.

I shall endeavour to up the yellow part of my Green stuff. It's always been a bit of a mystery to me with the ratio, and most of the time I refrain from sculpting because of that.

More of the blue hardener causes the putty to be a bit stiffer right off the bat, and makes it cure faster; while more yellow allows it to be softer and more pliable, and with a longer working window, at the expense of some hardness of the fully cured putty. Polymeric Systems themselves started recommending 1.5 parts of yellow to 1 blue (3:2) for general sculpting, some time ago. It's a good idea, I think. I would've warned hobbyists and beginner sculptors about GS (well, unmixed with other putty, but that's another story) until that went up. :)

Looking forward to whatever's next!

Both the Tall Fuzzy Bugbear & his Short Fuzzy Dwarf adversary turned out SPLENDIDLY...EXCELLENT brushwork & color selection. VERY WELL DONE!

Have FUN with the D&D.

Love Klarg  :-*  :-*  :-*

Beautiful paintwork around his face makes him seem alive, like an angry ewok :D

 lol lol lol
I'll have to remember that for future campaigns! The Lost Mines of Phandelver suddenly seems pale and boring compared to the working title of 'Assault on the Ewok camp in the Mountain of Doom'.

Thanks to all of you for the nice comments, although most of the credit goes to Reaper for their lovely sculpting on their Dark Heavens minis. They're really a delight to paint!

Very nice brushwork. The dungeon tiles look good, too. Do I see right that you use plasticcard for these or do you use some other material?

Well, I'll let my friend and assosciate AWOL give you the full answer on that, but I believe that it is indeed plasticcard and little else. Although he's quite known in these circles for his skill with plastic, he might have slipped something else in here and there.

I managed to paint up some minions for Klarg. Seeing as he's a deluded Bugbear with grand illusions of his own greatness, he'd need a small retinue of Goblins to do his bidding. to keep up the facade:

Regular GW oldhammer gobbos. Love 'em.

I also finished up the Fighter/Ranger type I converted from the excellent Bones character:

I think the cape and the skull-cap adds a lot to his rustic appearance, and I really hope one of the players will pick him up and make a nice folksy character out of him!

I've got a few extra goblins on the table, an elf wizard-scholar type plus some surprises of the 'innocent bystanders'-category.
