I started building a damaged factory, apologies the rushed and blurred photos...

Cut out a base, added the pavement, and marked in the walls.

Cut out the basic walls.

Clad one side of the walls with brick textured plasticard

Cut those out

Clad the other side

Cut those out

Cut the pillars and stick them square onto brick plasticard

Stick them to the walls, and see how it's all fitting together.

Add smaller brick buttresses and cut some damage. With the walls being clad you can cut individual bricks out of the textured side and add a bit of relief.

Tiled the floor, and added damage.

I'll try and take better pictures next time, I'm rushing them to save time and they look awful...  ::)

Godd you`ve mentioned that there is some brick texture on the walls  lol

No just joking  ;)

Great start for that building. What material you are using for the wallcore? Hard to say by the pictures, Foamcore, Plywood?

Are the tiles on the floor a textureplate, or sculpted in?

Oh I know, I've just been doing quick snaps because I'm furiously building...  :-I

It's all plasticard, the wall core is 1.5mm, when clad about 2mm, the floor is tile textured plasticard.

After slight trimming it fits together well. The ends do and join lines so four more columns up next.

Lintels and sills added before construction

The most damaged side, showing a few bricks hacked out.

It has to be quite roomy inside to allow the standard 35mm square bases to fit.

Are those lintels ready-made? Interesting... who makes those?

Fantastic work!

How do you cut your windows in the plastic card? I found it was the worst part of the grain elevator. Even on thin card it was horrible. Yours is superb!

Yes, they're from South East Finecast. Download the PDF, from http://www.sefinecast.co.uk/Prices.htm to see the full range, as they're not all listed on the site. I've had one of every sheet and they're great. They're vac-formed so bear that in mind.

There's eight different lintels and arches to that sheet and corner brickwork & soldier courses - FBS411.

Fantastic work!

Thanks.

With a scalpel with repeated goes and replacement blades, it is a pain. If I'm cutting purely on the finished plasticard I've very careful, but with cladding you can have cuts over run at the corners, saving a bit of time, as the cladding will hide it, so long as you sand them where the blade has lipped it.

Wow, I went through a bazillion blades for my elevator, so I guess there's no easier way to do it!  lol

I thought maybe you had a magical way - I have a heated x-acto kit that I'm going to try next time. Should be fantastic on thin stuff. It's amazing on foam.

That should be interesting, don't forget to post pics.  ;) Until then it's achy finger tips and tired fingers.

First pass with the rubble on the factory, mainly sand to start.

And while that was drying knocked up the Factory office building.

Thanks chaps.

That office building is crying out to be cast  ;)

I'm not sure what I'd do with the resulting casts tbh. I did offer it up to one of the 6mm buildings manufacturers but they didn't bite.

Put the finishing touches to a couple of hangars, featuring 6mm oil drums and crates from Perfect Six

Thanks!

Did the second pass of rubble.

I left it for a few days and the base started to warp, the first one to do so but it's the first big build on a base, clad flooring and 3-ply walls have all had their effect. So I'm waiting for a small piece of sheet metal to turn up which I'll glue the base on.

Started on the roof, it's be covered with tiles so it can be a little rough.

This brought a fresh problem, the plasticard tiles I was going to use are a trifle too small for what I was going to do. Namely an overhang to the front and a shattered edge with struts at the damaged end,  :?

Finished the last hangar though.  :)
