Elizebethan Generals Sculpted by Ronnie Shilton
« on: 16 November 2014, 01:41:45 AM »
Foundry has these listed on ebay UK does anyone know anything about them?
I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was. Now what I'm with isn't it anymore and what is it seems weird and scary.

Haven't seen then in the flesh, so to speak but I have a few of Ronnie's Foundry sculpts and they look much nicer than on the pics.

Are these Swashbuckler figs or do they belong in the older 25mm line?

I've seen these on the Casting Room Miniatures website and wondered about them. In particular, I wondered how tall they are. If the musketeers are converted Swashbucklers, I imagine they must be pretty tall. From the photos the poses of the range as a whole look a bit uninspired.

Yep I think you are right, those carrying rest ans those with musket deployed will be exact match for swashbuckling one others I hesitate but assume would match

The trouble with that range (and the other human ranges they released over the last years) is they are conversions of more experienced sculptors' figures or dollies and it shows. The figures are uneven in terms of style and skill and the arms/shoulders often look tacked on and unnatural.

Sometimes it works, but often it doesn't and every pack seems to include some duds.

I've got the 'firing line' and 'marching' musketeers and they are essentially a couple of figures from the swashbucklers range with head swaps (which I'd likely have done anyway) I've also got the generals pack and they sculpting isn't the best but again I'm swapping heads which improves them a bit. I looked at the rest of the range however and decided not to bother.

I'll pick up the 'firing line' and 'marching' but I'll also pass on the rest.
Fortunately I don't need a lot as I'm a skirmish gamer.
