Ottoman Turk Firing new 28mm Green for GWI
« on: 17 November 2014, 10:57:44 AM »
The latest green to come from Steve Barber is a sculpt of an Ottoman firing in costume originating during the army reforms, he can be used for both regular and irregular troops during the Greek revolution. The sculpt was based from a print dating to the mid 1820s

Wonderful.  The cap inside the turban seems a bit large though.
Clear the battlefield and let me see
All the profit from our victory.

Hi Shipka

How early an Ottoman army could this guy be used for?

Cheers

A few people have emailed me and asked for some guidance on painting. I have always found it best to follow period known colours, as such as an example

Quilted Hat -Red Turban - Green Tunic-Mid Pink with Red Cuffs  Breeches- Charcoal Grey Waistsash-Rose Boots- Red

Quilted Hat -Green Turban-White Tunic- Tourquiose Blue with Green cuffs piped White Breeches -Rose Waistsash-Deep Yellow Boots -Buff

could be used as early as 1718 for the Siege of Belgrade  going by illustrations in the Surname-I Hümayun of 1720.

Indeed - if anything a touch on the small side!  ;)

Lovely figure-if only it was 54mm! My Ottoman Army project made no progress this year because of a dearth of suitable plastic figures. That noise was me sighing...
