Great stuff!

I see the' big boys' are coming out to play now!
 8) 8)

The Japanese fleet looks very impressive when it's all on the table.  There are more photos to come too, I believe, as we managed to get two games in despite the numerous food breaks  :)

Especially the one of the Mikada, with it's crew slaughtered, the ship on fire crashing towards the earth... lol

Full report of the days events below  :D

Archibald Elgin, 7th Duke of Bruce, looked at the surveys team report again and a warm glow came all over him. At last, a tangible piece of ancient Martian culture was available for the taking... One of the Sky Martian clans was desperately in need of some trade goods after their supplies had been taken by a larger, rival clan and had in their poccession a carved head from one of the old cities, thought to be lost in the great deserts.

The Great Martian Trading Company were looking for some work after things had gone quiet after the last raid on New Victoria so this would be the perfect opportunity to gain this important artefact.

Just a quick letter to the commander of the Japanese supply fleet to 'borrow' a small cargo neff for a couple of days and it would be his, and her Majesties of course. God Bless Her.

He would send Pvt. Smithers RE from his staff, a trustworthy sort who's main interest was the expansion of the Royal collection. No need to go himself unless this could lead to more important finds; which, of course, he rather hoped it would...

The first game started with contact between the Sky Martian clan with the head and the GMTC with the cargo neff in tow. A small unit of Martian Aak naks were also sent in case of any nasty business athough they wandered off at the begining to look for some Aak nak smak in a field of the farmstead where the exchange was to happen.

The first raiding skiff arrives and the Japanese crew try to get the head on the cargo neff as soon as possible whilst the trading Martians load their cargo onto the landed skiff before they get caught...

A total of 30 was required by rolling 1d10 per turn and adding the total together, a lengthy process.

The Aak naks and the GMTC crew rushed on board their skiff before being attacked but it seemed that the raiding Sky Martians had other plans...

Landing next to the grounded skiff, the marauding Martians butcher the crew and take off with the skiff full of cargo!

The GMTC skiff, now fully loading with it's crew and the Aak naks slowly takes off in pursuit of the daring Sky Martians

The Sky Martians fly off with their ill gotten gains with the original skiff closely following and the GMTC after them.

To GMTC try to take out the skiff and manage to damage it severely enough for it to crash

Meanwhile, the trading clan try to get away with as much cargo as could be rescued. Revenge will be deadly...

The loaded cargo neff safely gets away just in time to meet the approaching Japanese fleet, sent out to make sure no trouble was forthcoming. Too late it would seem.

Game two saw the Japnese fleet and the GMTC escorting the cargo neff back to New Victoria through some of the numerous canyons (represented by the long table edges)

Suddenly, skiffs came from all directions from over the canyon edges with only one thing on their minds... Death to the earthers!

The Mikada was quickly grappled and boarded but not without Martian casualties (a roll of one for each boarding roll meant a Martian had fallen from the skiff...)

Two skiffs went for the cargo neff but thanks to some lucky firing from the fleet and some inspired steering from the neff pilot the cargo neff avoided getting boarded.

Intense gunnery from the ungrappled neffs quickly brought down one of the lightly armoured skiffs and heavily damaged the others.

The fighting on the Mikada was brutal with the Japanese marine contingent being wiped out in short order and the naval crew not standing a chance. General Bandai stood to the last but to no avail and was quickly cut down and ritually disembowelled by the victorious Martians

The remaining undamaged skiff tried to make a run at one of the neffs but couldn't catch it in the close confines of the canyon, unable to use it's wind borne manoeuvrability and was eventually damaged so much it couldn't pursue further and limped home.

The cargo neff, GMTC and remaining neffs managed to escape and got home to New Victoria but General Bandai will have to be revenged...

An excellent days gaming and many thanks are extended to Dr De'Ath who was a superb host (even though breakfast wasn't ready when we arrived  ;) )

Reprisals are to follow in the coming weeks leading up to a big game at the end of January  :D

cheers

James

Good AAR there Mr Bibbly and some great shots of the action.  Two very enjoyable games.

I think we're going to need a bigger table next time though!

Excellent game reports and nice to see the whole fleet gathered. I'm just peeved that prior commitments meant that I couldn't get over for the game.
