I accidently - don't ask! - took up the 30 day Amazon Prime offer and have crammed in the first three episodes of Ripper Street series 3 today . .  .and it's brilliant! Now going to get the IHMN Scotland Yard set. Does anyone have a suggestion for an Abberline figure? Any other figs which could sit well beside the ones I'm going to get?

Amazon have commissioned two more seasons!

This will be worth discussing when everyone has caught up with the third series. I don't want to give anything away so I'll wait until the series has run.

And there I was thinking I was the only non-Prime loser who hadn't seen it yet!

Just saw that some of the episodes are rated 18 on Amazon and wondered how much the beeb will have to cut....

BTW I have amazon prime for a month and was thinking of buying copper seasons one and two, if I do that can I download them or do I maintain access when I cancel prime?

I DON'T THINK THERE'S ANY SPOILERS HERE BUT GO CAREFULLY IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN EPISODE ONE - JUST IN CASE!

What's the verdict on episode one (shown on BBC last night for those of us that resisted paying Amazon)? The object seemed to be to set up quite a lot of plot points for future episodes and it wasn't afraid to throw in quite a few coincidences to establish them. Good to have it back but I hope it settles down as the series continues.

Still not sure about the dialogue style - how accurate is the "1894-speak" they use? Also, I must admit, I could hardly catch more than 1 in 10 words the American said but that's probably down to me being a deaf old git...

The first episode sets a theme for the rest of the series

With prime cancel it and if you want pay the £5.99 monthly subscription for instant video. I did this a few months ago and as only use amazon infrequently the prime wasnt worth the money, however you get the films and tv in the instant video package

No, you can't download unfortunately. Only stream.
(You can download Amazon 'instant videos' that you have bought from Amazon - but not the 'free' Prime subscription video content)

He's a very engaging character, and it's a nicely acted performance. But the drawl is most definitely lazy, so I don't think it's all down to you being an old git, Doug  ;)

Personally, I like Amazon Prime, have found an endless supply of lush new TV drama content to keep me happy (it's really all I watch now), including a whole lot of exclusives like Ripper Street, Vikings, Black Sails, Outlander, Turn, Hell on Wheels, and much else besides, including a regular supply of recent movies.
I also make good use of the 'guaranteed free next day delivery for Prime members' on all sorts of urgently required hobby and household necessities. Extremely useful.
And all for a fiver a month  :o
For those that live outside London, that's pretty much the price of a pint these days... Astonishing value I think - unless one has a philosophical objection to Amazon on the basis of their allegedly dodgy record on various fronts... In which case, fair enough, one must let one's conscience be one's guide  :)

All good...avoid Outlander, it's essentially 'Mommy porn' on the level of Twilight.

Hell on Wheels is very good, Black Sails is pretty much Game of Thrones-ified Treasure Island but with questionable historical accuracy.
