Resampled to original size, the paint scheme is unexpected, though interesting. I don´t think, though, that the combination of olive drab and blue works well, sorry. On the other hand, I don´t like the sculpt at all, so I may be prejudiced.

I like the blue, but I prefer to see armour metallic.

You've done a cracking job with the sword. Blood on the blade - nice.

Westfalia Chris: everyone to his own, i respect your oppinion. sadly this is one of those pics were the miniature looks much worse than in real life.

joroas: the armor has a hint of silver mixed in to give a shine to it, its not very obvious but its there (the flash from the camera probably)

Captain Blood: that was the easiest and most effort taken part to do :D it was just a light drybrush of dark brown followed by the red, i had to do that kind of sword instead of the one i wanted (a kind of galaxy swirling stars affect) because it went wrong then the spray (yes i re-sprayed) the sword went on to thick. therfore the blood look suited it better.

JollyBob:as for this comment HAHAHA yes. i believe when i painted that i thought to myself silently " lets all laugh at JB"  lol

thanks for the comment so far, nice and quick, as always/ :D

A nice bit of painting, I think the lads are right about the green perhaps a bit of yellow mixed in to bring the green up a bit

I don't really want to be the bad guy but something didn't seem right to me when I saw the picture.

After a couple of minutes I decided it was the cloak.
Two things: the color looks too clean compared to the other colors. While the armor and even the head looks - er - worn and used, the cloak with the shiny blue looks too clean, too neat.

I am more a fan of subtle blendings so for my taste the basecolor black for the cloak doesn't go along with bright blue highligts. Given the highlights you used I would have expected a medium blue cloak.

Now don't get me wrong, this is just my subjective opinion. Of course there is not THE one way to paint.

Oh, btw. just today I've taken a look into White Dwarf again...  Big mistake! The new Aragorn mini left me all googly eyed again. The LotR range is just so cool!

I don't like it either.  In fact, I think GW dropped the ball on most of their latest Vampire Counts range.  I usually like vampires and undead but, other than some of the new plastics and possibly the Varghulf, I find the new figures to be generally awful.  Too many Gothic greeblies and some very strange poses.  What's with these bats and ghoulies and ghosties 'streaming' from under the cloaks?  It makes the figures look very 'unbalanced'.  No delicacy.  Nope, not impressed this time round.  :-[

Once you've left GW WH/40K behind it is hard to find your way bac. Nevertheless I thinkyou did a good job on that cloak, wisecrack. I like the stark contrasts.

took another look at  the figure last night, and turns out it IS the flash making his cape seem bright turquoise, the cape is actually slightly darker, so therefore i will leave it,i did consider doing general old fashioned metal armor but i was never very good at that apart from just dry brushing in darker to lighter shades.

Okay, the flash of course changes the way miniatures and paintjobs look. The most important thing is that you are satisfied with the result and that's all that counts.
