Space Hulk - Somewhere on Terra, 39000 A.D.- upd 22.05, p.14
« on: December 13, 2014, 02:51:43 PM »
I'm not that into 40K gaming having played only a few real 40K games in my life but I always liked the story behind the game. Sure, it's a mix of everything and it's nothing really new there, much of the stuff, many of the ideas are taken from human history, but that's my point here, that makes the background story so exciting for me. As Voltaire said "Originality is nothing but judicious imitation".

This is going to be the log of my painted 40K miniatures. Over the years I've collected lots of them, with thematic priority on the Holy Orders of the Emperor's Inquisition. Btw, thanks to all LAFers who has helped me (via Bazaar) to close some gaps in my collection, much appreciated, guys!

Not everything I'm going to post is newly painted. I've painted a dozen of the miniatures over the last two years but never got around to basing and photographing them. Let's hope this is going to change now.

Okay, enough of words, here comes the first miniature from the Holy Mountain of Prof's 40k-Madness:

Anna Astragova, The imperial Inquisitor.

It's a repaint, I've bought the mini on the Bazaar from a LAFer with an older painting on it and repainted it completely, though taking some colour ideas from my predessecor. The base is quite rusty, that’s the influence of Blanchitsu, displaying in the last issue of Warhammer Visions a beautiful 40K board “The Sump”, where everything looks that rusty.

Nice work.  :-*
Is she a 40k 28mm or a Inquisitor 54mm?

Look forward to seeing more.

Thanks, guys!

Yes that's she. Still need to get the other two similar ladies with different guns.

The dark backgrounds really work a treat  :)

Yep. I'm quite happy with the background darkness as well. After all the blue&white years :) Making fotos is so much easier as you don't need so much light and the colors stay the same.

She is very nice. I do like the Inquisitor fluff, I confess.

Lovely.
 :-*

And I have agree to liking the 'fluff' that accompanies 40k, especially the Heresy era.

As with so much 40K, this really has possibilities for VSF; she's very steampunk without the decolletage.  ;)

Rates high on my 'she who must be obeyed' meter.

 :o

Surely a thread worth following for, the first treat is free, so what do we have to see the rest of the painted ones? :)

Agree. Btw, the design of her is based on a drawing by John Blanche and his artwork features strong steam-punkish motifs often.

Not much, just keep visiting that thread :)

And the next one!

Uriah Jacobus, the Protector of the Faith, a missionary of the Ecclesiarchy

sculpted by Brian Nelson for the Adepta Sororitas, also known as the Sisters of Battle, army many years ago and is still one of the most impressive figures ever made by GW, at least in my humble opinion. It's the second time I've panted this figure, the first one was a converted version for my Mordheim gang, painted back in 2001 (you can see him here - link). I know I wasn't very inventive chhosing his colours, but I just couldn't think of him wearing a green or blue robe.
