pulp alley for dugeon crawling?
« on: December 15, 2014, 07:01:24 PM »
Hi all
After reading lots of awesome battle reports I think I may be ready to take the plunge and start playing pulp alley.
I have downloaded and read the free rules, love the combat system, plot points, pretty much everything.

I just have a couple of questions that those who have played a lot may answer.
Would it make a good dungeon crawl system? I would like to play co-op with the wife. I saw there was an AI that would take care of enemies.
Is it possible to play a league with only 2, 1 character each?
I think that pretty much covers everything I was thinking of
thanks
Jason

Hi Jason,

Yes, dungeon crawls can be lots of fun with Pulp Alley. Things like spotting/disarming traps fall right inline with our Peril rules. And finding/opening hidden doors and treasure chests can easily be resolved as Plot Points.

I'd recommend doing 2-character leagues, so you each have a main character and a sidekick character. You might want to use the 'Duo' perk if you have Vice Alley. Otherwise you might want to burn a few slots on other perks.

For a high Fantasy (or Sci-Fi) settings I usually recommend adding one extra starting ability to represent things like magic or racial differences.

You can also use the numbers/icons at the bottom of the Fortune cards to help drive your story... so many ideas to explore...

Please let us know how it goes!  :D

HAVE FUN
