VSF Anti-Aircraft - The Prussian Ballonenkanone of 1871
« on: December 26, 2014, 11:23:05 PM »
During the 1871 Siege of Paris, to interdict the balloons the French were using to maintain contact with Paris, the Krupp developed for the Prussians the Ballonenkanone (that would be BAK, instead of FLAK !).  A modified one-pounder (37mm) breechloader, it was mounted on a horse-drawn wagon so as to keep pace with soaring balloons.  This was, of course, prior to the invention of the Hotchkiss revolver cannon (five barrels in 37mm, much like a Gatling), which was subsequently adopted by the German Navy in the late 1880's for defense against motor torpedo boats.

Or, just BK, given that here in the US, a heck of a lot of folks would think 'Burger King...'  lol

May I suggest putting in the Aeronef et al sticky?

This is so useful!

Depending on mounting, it might also be of use on Venus for taking down the great lizards !

Quite, but one has to be careful, switching between saurus shot and that for the dreaded Prussian Armored Zeps!
