Cloaks from paper hankerchiefs

OK, this is how I made it:
First of all you take a ready figure.


Next you need to prepare the paper hankerchief piece. Cut a allmost rectangular part out of the hanky, not taking the part with the little stamps in it, unless you want those to be in the cloak later.


Be shure to take only one of the supposedly four layers.


It should be allmost possible to see through.


Then you cut out the collar part, as the cloak has to fit around the neck.


The first glob of liquid superglue should be on the back of the figure. Make it be a rather big drop but not pour the whole figure over.


Then put the ready cloak to the prepared spot like this.

Leave it a second or two to set.

Then start to place the cloak around the figure as you see fit. Do it by soaking the cloak in liquid superglue in some places. The glue will run through the hanky and stick to the mini. Be careful not to let your tools stick to the cloak, as it will rip apart easily at this stage.


Repeat this until you are content with the cloaks adhesion to the figure. Be careful, you will have to speed this up, as you want to model some folds into the cloak and the glue sets quite fast, as it's superglue. You might like to keep it wet with glue.


In the end the glue has to soak through all of the cloak. Folds seem natural as the hanky falls almost like a real cloak.


After the superglue is dry the figure can be worked on as normal. The cloak is rather robust and also a little flexible, as it is very thin.

If you use ordinary plastic model glue rather than suoerglue you might have abit longer to adjust the paper before it sets.
Also, it doesn't stick to tools quite so quickly.

Can use the same sort of technique for blanket rolls, kilts, turbans etc.

Seconding this as the margin of error becomes much better this way.
