WSS Pandours

Just wondering if it is possible to use the Eureka 15mm Grenzers as Pandours from the WSS?

If not who makes appropriate figures in 18mm?

I just don't know the period and scale well enough to help.  My gut feeling though is that a general impression is often good enough for the 18th century and you can get away with more in smaller scales.

FWIW, I read a book about Trenck's pandours a while back and they were ununiformed irregulars. If this is anything to go by, those uniformed Eureka grenzers aren't going to cut it. Unfortunately, I don't know that anyone makes WSS pandours in the scale you're looking for.

That was my worry. I'll have to think of something... or if Khurasan is listening maybe these could be part of your Austrian release.

Hi there,

I am using a variety of 30mm figures for my 1737 Austro-Ottoman war armies Pandours?Grenze/Croat/Bosnian militia. There is not a lot to differentiate them. From what I see on t'web, the Pandour pictures are the same as the Grenze figure, but usually depicted wearing the cloak rather than having it slung over the shoulder.

Try a Google inmate search on 'austrian pandours' to see what I mean.

I would agree on the irregular nature, though. Perhaps you could add putty cloaks to some, add muskets to command figures for others, and mix in some Russian 7YW Pandour figures?

Donnington Miniatures do a late 17th Century Croat skirmishers which will probably do the job.
