PSC Panzer 38(t)/Marder III review
« on: 25 January 2015, 02:52:09 PM »
I got my box of the PSC Panzer 38(t)/Marder III Variants in the post yesterday and build one of the Marder 138H this morning. And on my blog, here is a review of them:

Thanks for reading!

Thank you for the review, good to hear the problem was solved and it builds into a good kit :)

Nice review. I'm happy there's few parts (I have two boxes of the Panther I haven't been in the mood to start yet), but lots of spares.

There's a Marder II available from Battlefront (product code GE103).

Thanks Guys, yes the problems of the moulding was sorted out, they are good at things like that, PSC. There are quite a few spares in this box, but they are quite useable, something that I don't always find with PSC stuff.

Re: Marder IIs, I was under the impression that only the sdkfz 132 served at Stalingrad (which I can't find in 15mm), but have since found out that there is also a sdkfz 131 version which served at Stalingrad and ARE available in 15mm, as you pointed out! I always get confused when it comes to the Marders, there are so many sdkfz versions!

That makes more sense (I was wondering how lazy you were :P). Yeah, your best best is some heavy conversion work with Pz II and SdKfz 139s maybe to get a SdKfz 132.

Ha ha, not lazy, just confused! It doesn't take much!! I was going through my collection after this conversation and found that I actually have a few Marder II 131, but painted in late war scheme, so I may just repaint those in grey and use the ones in this box for another purpose.

Very late on this one, but I am very tempted with this kit.  However, Abwehr or Piers, can you tell me if the 75mm gun is the same as the one used on the PSC PZ IV kit or have they, hopefully, reduced the size of the muzzle brake?  It does kind of look big in Abwehr's pictures.

Thanks in advance.

hi Tim, I have just checked and the muzzle brake on the Marder is slightly shorter than the ones on the Panzer IVs, so they must have retooled them! It may look big in my pictures due to the angle of the camera!
