Triceratons

Wanted to have another bash at sculpting. I think accurate humans might need to wait a bit, but aliens seemed more do-able. One of the earliest conversion jobs I did in the early 90's was change space crusade marines into Triceratons, the space dino-men from the original TMNT comic. I always liked these characters, and thought they'd work well for pulp sci fi games.

I got some Reaper armatures which are woefully large for 28mm humans, but perfect for 8ft tall aliens.

I built up detail with super sculpy, which is easier to work with than greenstuff, but needs to be baked to cure, and isn,t very sticky so I had to wrap it in thin layers around the armature to get it to hold.

When finished it I made a mould and cast a resin copy. My initial sculpt had the arms sitting forward, which meant big air bubbles in the arms, so I had to re-position these before painting

The finished product.

Very cool. They look great! If I had a tmnt project going I'd be asking for some copies.
