They should be a good match for the Old Glory 2nd ed, Sash and Saber, and other "smaller" 28mm ranges. Sadly they will probably be too small to match up with the Front Rank figures that my main Sharpe Practice opponent has.

If they are short just say they are malnourished young conscripts.
You'd have to shave their moustaches off first.

Well now, it will be interesting to see if the Perrys can get theirs out onto the market before Victrix...
Dear me - first Romans, now Napoleonic French... These new 28mm plastics ventures seem a bit prone to clashing over the more obvious spoils...
Wonder who'll be first to do something more interesting...

I have always been of the impression that plastic moulds are far more expensive than metals, given that the need to recoup costs by a high turnover is important.  I notice that the new ACW and Roman plastics are accompanied by less common troops in metal, to save overheads.

So, only the core of popular armies in plastic for the foreseeable future, I think.

They do look very nice, but remember they are late French 1812 – 15, or more to the Waterloo battle, as all the other Perry Napoleonic 28mm ranges.

The Victrix Plastics covers a much wider number of years, and we will have the British to look forward to in November.

I don’t think it makes much different if Perry’s get their French out first before Victrix, as Victrix is committed to have a much wider range of plastic Napoleonic’s.

Saying all that, I would buy a box of Perry French anyway!!

Well I really do like the looks of the Perry sprues, so I will probably get a box or five for parts, conversions, and possibly a seperate unit. My newly-found Sharpe practice group does circa 1809 Spain right now so the uniforms are technically wrong, but I can get away with the guys in greatcoats by slightly modifying the shakos.

The Victrix guys will get most of my plastic money though (especially if they are slightly larger) simply because they will have both sides in the correct period uniform.

I wonder if it would be possible to swop bits over from Perrys French and the forthcoming Victrix French? Eg Heads, arms, backpacks, that is if the sizes of the two packs are close or the same.

But the French greatcoats will be suitable for Spain.

The relative sizes of packs, cartouches, weapons etc will be the killer. They will almost certainly not be the same, so even if the figures are a compatible size, they will probably look odd together

Yes, I thought all those marching figures was a strange choice, but it's a pose the Perrys seem to favour... Their ACW stuff seemed to be mainly marching / standing or firing.
I suppose as they say, the 'march attack' is a distinctive French Napoleonic pose, but most gamers naturally tend to gravitate towards advancing / attacking / high porte type poses when they choose figures...

Maybe they are sticking with their formative 'Airfix' years a bit too closely!
Airfix sets alwasy used to have at least 50% of figures in useless marching and other odd poses...

Maybe marching poses are easier [and therefore cheaper] to mould in plastic?

They are I think going for big battalion games with multi bases, from my experience with Front rank, March poses are the best bet, especially to protect the bayonets
