Conwy Wargames Club Force on Force Game
« on: 26 February 2015, 10:39:58 AM »
Dave put on a modern 20mm skirmish set in Africa around 2010 using the Force on Force rules. I haven't played these rules but I'd heard good things about them and I was interested to see how they played. Dave gave a broad brush scenario that he'd cobbled together due to time constraints. So in my blog post I allowed my imagination go wild, although I suspect some of the ideas came from reading other peoples blogs.

The figures are mostly Liberation Miniatures and the vehicles are mainly pre-painted models you can buy.

The scenario: West Africa 2010

The Western backed government had been overthrown and the US had gone in to support it. The legitimate government's enclave centred on the country's main port had been coming under sustained artillery fire. US Marines are dispatched to silence the multiple rocket launcher hampering the build up of government forces.

How it played is detailed here:
My forces defend the village against the US Marines

Great little report.

Nice report. I've noted your posts with interest as I wasn't aware of another gaming group so close to me.

Good looking game.
How do the rules handle hull down positions?
It looks like the Marines could had used more cover.

We meet the last Sunday of every month upstairs at the Anglers in Rhos on Sea. It's an informal club of approx. 12 gamers with emphasis on fun rather than competition. I have only recently moved back to the area so I haven't met everyone yet but I know some of them from the Llandudno and District club days in the 90s and early 2000s.

We didn't get to use the hull down rules so I agree it'll be interesting to see how they play.
