Die Bien Phu range new 75mm recoilless gun teams available
« on: 01 March 2015, 08:24:32 PM »
It has been a long time but, after many bad moments (firstly the accident of our sculptor Paul Hicks and his convalescence and then, the terrible news of the dead of our moulder, the late Stewart Griffin, in December), our two new packs are here and available.

DBP011 Vietminh 75mm recoilless gun team with

3 marching figures

and 3 firing figures with the gun

DBP012 French 75mm recoilless gun team with

3 marching figures

and 3 firing figures with the gun + packs and rifles

We will put them on our website as soon as possible but know that both packs sell at 14 euros and are available immediately for ordering via our email at redstarminiatures@gmail.com and soon via our UK distributor Empress miniatures and US distributor Age of glory

Cheers,

Christian

I hope for more, very nice miniatures. Painting them is a pleasure. Seems the paint finds the way by it's own.

would these scale well with Assault Groups Viet Cong?
I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was. Now what I'm with isn't it anymore and what is it seems weird and scary.

They are lovely!  Would it be stretching the imagination too much to have a few of the Viet Minh scattered in units of Main Force VC ten years or so later than they are intended for?

It's great to see Mr Hicks back,  he's one of my most favourite sculptors. I'd love to have the money to commission a Vietnam range from him, especially if they looked as good as these figures.

These are superbly characterful models, I'd love to see some Southern African 'Bush Wars' minis  done with this level of attention to detail with regard to individual personal kit and facial expression.

Ditto... especially if the Vietnam range ran from '62 onwards.

Admittedly we have Kostas at Eureka for Bush Wars, but he's not working nearly hard enough and keeps getting sidetracked by that ultra-modern rubbish.

True, I do like Kostas' RAR & Portuguese a lot, painted them already and they were a pleasure to do.
That said there is something I really like about the style of these French chaps, they just look a bit grim and gritty. I like the fact that each mini has loads of individual character; different belt kit and odd uniforms. I'd love to see some late 70's Rhodesian SAS done like these; WW2 Para helmets & jump suits, RPDs (without the round mags) , AKs & RPGs, individual belt kits (not all the same). I can feel some conversions coming on...

Nice stuff. This is an excellent range I have a platoon plus worth of the French and a squad plus for the VM. I do wonder why they went with the 75mm RCL the more common item at least for the French was the 57mm RCL. Hopefully they might see fit to sell the gun by itself, it's a really useful item for Vietnam, Africa and even Afghanistan.

I just wish they would do some more Viet Minh. I've resorted to converting Eureka ZANLA figures with rifles and SMG to flesh them out. That and some standard infantry or Legionnaires in shorts and bush hats.

I would also like to see those Recoils rifles sold separate.

Its a lovely range, may well have to invest..............
Or maybe, see if Paul fancies working with me again, and go for the classic Hollywood Vietnam look, with 60s Americans v VC and NVA, a whole new range, quite fancy scratching some M113s, M-48 and a decent range of usable Hueys and other helos................. ;D

Durutti,
I would love to see Paul do the '60s.
On my dream list, how about a PBR by you and Paul do the crew.
Also some ARVN troops. ;D
