- about the mortar :

The mortars in those pictures don't seem to be the same, are they? What is the top picture from? I know the French built a small mortar (LGI Mle F1) based on the Japanese type 89, but that was post WW2. The point is that one cannot tell from the models what actually was sculpted. They do look small though.
My copy of the French BA supplement shows a 60 mm medium mortar. Up until now, Warlord has only produced the 81mm. My understanding was that the 60 mm mortar was ubiquitous in the early war as opposed to the 50mm size. Why would they not sculpt the 60mm version first?
-about the sniper :
that's history, not fantasy
It may have gotten lost in the translation but I was agreeing with you. That's why I brought up the Japanese snipers.
-about the backpack :
my main problem is the first action for an artilleryman, or a static weapon crew is to discard the backpack before action ...
Again, I agree with you, but you were not clear about that in your initial comment. In fact, most pictures of French infantrymen in combat show them not wearing the full backpack. Your second picture above shows that well. I suspect the artillery men were sculpted using the same dollies as the infantrymen.
How do you feel about the Senegalese?
