de-unpc-ing GW pygmies
« on: 22 March 2015, 08:44:07 PM »
I have a handful of the old GW pygmies that I picked up a few years back, but haven't done anything with them for <ahem> obvious reasons (no matter how fondly I remember them back in the day). To get some use out of them they will need to be beheaded really, so I'm after some tribal masks or - to fit the Slann theme - aztec/inca headdresses, essentially anything that will hide or replace any offending aspects....

can anyone suggest any suitable tribal bitz? primarily masks?

Reaper's Bloodstone Gnomes have a couple of sprues with big tribal style masks.

They also have this skull mask from their frogman shaman. http://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/mask/sku-down/P03174C

There's also their own pygmies and apparently the masks can be bought seperate.http://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/mask/sku-down/03497

Jibbery style oinkery which don't make no damn sense.

I would also urge you not to destroy the figures. Sell them, trade them or just store them as a fond reminder.

There are loads of other options now, the GW ones are collectors pieces.

Get yourself some relatively cheap Excalibur ones. The faces aren't too great but the bodies are allright. And if you want, you can trade them with me for your Citadel Pygmies  ;).

I was part of that conversation :) and the ensuing aspect of how they are not really acceptable sculpting wise...

Clan Bamaka from Eden also has some nice Facemasks although I don`t know how to get them on their own. Have you thought about doing your own?

well I honestly didn't think they'd sell with prevailing attitudes towards them - but I guess folks still collect.... will look at ebaying them then:

2 Puff, 1 Agh, 1 Bongo, 1 Ugh, 2 Arg, 1 Og, I chieftain, 1 standard bearer and 1 shaman based on 20mm round slottas (I'd planned on using them for skirmish gaming)

For me those pigmies are pure nostalgie, as I the first (metal) citadel miniatures that I bought was a blister with 4 of these guys.

You can off course also go for the kallistra models. A few of them you can see in my LPL entry froma few years back:

Kallistra even made a palm catapult  ;D
Why aim for gold if you can get lead?

Back in the Realm of Chaos days I converted them as Nurgle cult warriors, but the extreme caricature of course didn't go away. I cut some up and dit headswaps with ungor, practically destroying them with no satisfying results. A big shame now looking back.  lol
If you don't believe in lead, you're already dead.
