Gladiators
« on: March 23, 2015, 09:53:27 AM »
I finally finished the Gripping Beats set of Gladiators.
My first attempt at painting 28mm minis for six years.

I’m certain that some of the weapons and shields are misplaced and I made a few changes.
I added hair to the mini with the axe, (the Black on his lower eye is deliberate. Imp. Roman sunglasses), added a wrist chain to the African mini and painted some dents and holes to the shields, (I wanted them looking a little battered).

The African fighter has a skull painted on his face. This was inspired by Baron Samedi in the film "Live and Let Die" (1973).

A few images, different angles and light sources.

I'd have finished them sooner, but I was side tracked by a Waffen-SS MG team;

Very nicely done - they look very cool.  :)

I have a couple of these GB gladiators but unfortunately they are a little too small compared to my other guys.  :(

Thank you for the kind comments guys.

I'm open to suggestions for future projects.

Stuart.  :)
