Robs Fantasy Figs
« on: 24 March 2015, 06:36:11 PM »
Just posted some of the dwarf army I've been painting, nearly finished now.

More pics on the blog http://robsepicblog.blogspot.co.uk/ Hoping to use these in multiple systems, but especially Lion Rampant, which I'm really enjoying at the moment.

UBERCOOL! You did a WONDERFUL  job on the Vertically Challenged Ones. They look FANTASTIC in their mountain fastness. VERY WELL DONE!

Great looking figures and the terrain isn't too shabby either.

A very nice job indeed!

I don't know Lion Rampant: can you give some more information (or a link to a related site)? What kind of system is it?

Nice.  :)

Got a few LotR dwarfs on my painting bench, with Saga/Lion Rampant in mind. Great minds eh?

@RandyCarter this gives a good description of the rules http://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/134524/lion-rampant

It's basically a very adaptable system there's been a lot of chatter about it on the mediaeval boards on this site, people seem to be using it for everything from ancients to fantasy, I've played a couple of games so far it just works really well and is very tight set of rules. We have played games of 18pts so far which tend to play out over about hour.

This guy has some really good AAR's http://dalauppror.blogspot.se/search/label/H%C3%A5tunaleken

Thank you Roberto, I'll take a look soon.
Hoping not going OT: actually I'm looking for a simple and fast system for fantasy wargaming, possibly involving just a few models, and I'm going to try SoBH. Have you tried both?

I have read SOBH never played them, LR is definitely on the larger side of skirmish games. My go to set for smaller skirmish rules is Mordheim.

A lot of people seem to enjoy SOBH but I think when it comes to playing with only a few figs I prefer something a bit more detailed. Mordheim is a bit clunky but it scratches that itch, there is also loads of quality fan made matireal out there. Even if your not enamoured with the Warhammer background there's so many different Warband list you could use it for pretty much any fantasy setting.

This is a great site http://boringmordheimforum.forumieren.com/ check out the resources board for all the rules and variants.

I played WHFB for about ten years, so no problem wiht that setting!  lol
I own a Mordheim manual (didn't thought about it): I'll give a look to that site soon. The great matter is to convince my gaming mate! lol

Anyway: thank you for yuor information, and I wait for new dwarwes soon!

That looks brilliant. I really like the muted colours.

I found myself looking at my own LotR-dwarves, thinking I should use them for Lion Rampant, as well. :P
