Hi guys

Painted these for a friend, 28mm Saxon Guard Grenadiers and Artillery, not sure who makes them, but pretty sure they are Paul Hicks sculpts, nice figures, all comments welcome.

Gunner,

Love those 15mm Saxons you are painting for a commission.  Quite a talent to paint that well in such numbers.

Can I ask if you are doing any Saxon artillery in 15mm for this commission, in particular horse artillery.  I think that AB only do Saxon Foot artillery and hence I'd be interested to know how you did the Saxon Horse artillery, whether you converted then and if so what base figures you used.

Hi Paddy
I will be doing artillery for this customer at a later date along with a Prussian army, haven't thought about what we are doing or how we will do it yet.

Thanks Gunner.  I'll wait for you to tackle the problem ahead of me and then swipe all your good ideas then.....

I see you went for the Prinz Clemens Uhlans using the AB Austrian Lancer in red and green rather than with a Polish lancer in  light blue and black.  They look very good.

Hi guys

Here are some Brunswick Oels Jagers finished on commission, nice figures and interesting uniform, they were the inspiration for my plastic Oels Jagers conversion, all comments welcome.

Westfalia Miniatures does them, and they are indeed Paul Hicks sculpts :

Top-notch figures as you say : I have quite a few of these, with more on their way to me as I type this.

All great work. So how long did it take you to do each of these units?

It really depends, the Saxons were 2 days the larger 15mm armies 2 - 3 weeks.

Hi guys

A large commission of mixed 15mm Napoleonics finished, to large to post all the pics in one post, so I will spread it over at least 3 posts, all AB (Prussians, Austrian Cavalry), CGM (Nassau) or Xan (the rest) miniatures, AB are of course excellent, this is the first time I have paint Xan miniatures, they are more true 15mm so smaller than AB, you could mix them in the same army, but not the same unit, all round they are fairly nice, not quite as good as AB, but you will not be disappointed in them, CGM are similar in size and detail to Xan, again not as good as AB (the bench mark) and their poses/anatomy are probably the lest nice of the 3.
First up a couple of pics of the whole commission, and closer pics of the Brit and Prussians, the units we have are
92nd Gordon Highlanders (Xan)
58th Rutlandshire Regiment Xan)
53rd Shropshire Regiment (Xan)
Prussian 23rd Musketeer Regiment "Winning"(AB)

Hi Arkoudaki, I may have miss led you, I was talking about the 28mm Saxons, the larger 15mm Saxon force on the previous page took 3 weeks.
Hi Jambo, yeah they are alright, I would use them in a personal army but would pick AB first.
