1980s Bundeswehr
« on: April 12, 2015, 08:42:15 PM »
For a Cold War Gone Hot project I've started ages ago and now want to finish I've revisited my West Germans:

I have ordered some more from Elhiem today although I was thinking to do BAOR  for a while... but painting DPM in 20mm really is a chore.  :?
And after all, the main action would have happened in West Germany so I might as well stick with them!

Lovely figures, I only wish the range would be more comprehensive but who knows what's in store for us in the future, the East Germans got some reinforcement so I am hopeful for more Bundeswehr as well at some stage!!

Cheers

The helmets work really nicely.  Is that just static grass?
Back from the dead, almost.

No prob, it's Vallejo Russian Uniform mixed with a little Green Grey (866).
Washed with GW Nuln Oil and highlighted with base colour. Really simple  8)

Yeah..so many shades of (olive)grey  ;)

I had them more greyish before but I just prefer them more greenish.
Guess there is some artistic licence involved but I like to think the over all impression is close enough..?

Of course! Considering there being several manufacturers involved in making equipment the point os mood anyway. Also, thnose minifigures look a little bit TOO grey and a photograph taken with flash doesn'T help much in finding the right hue either :P

They faded/washed out very quickly. I remember them being really greenish olive when new and almost light grey when worn for a year (if they made it that long at all...)  lol

Really excellent figures these, well painted and the helmet camouflage is a nice toutch.

Stop press..
Eureka! Why mixing when the 'right' colour is already widely available?!
Revell's 'Hellolive' or Light Olive (and conveniently NATO Olive for the webbing and pouches..), both available as acrylics in little cube shaped pots.

What do you say??
