Waterloo with SIP and the cards from Blucher
« on: April 18, 2015, 04:36:21 PM »
Well that's the plan anyway. My Cigar Box Battle Mat arrived this morning from Nick at NorthStar and the next game in the "shed" will be the big battle itself using the cards from Blucher and Neil Thomas's Simplicity In Practice rules. Here are some photos of the battlefield with a few units placed on to give you an idea. I know its not everyone's cup of tea, but its the only way I'm going to get to fight the battle in its 200th anniversary.
I suppose longer term I could replace the cards with figures and get some three dimensional terrain down on top of the mat, but I'm a wargames butterfly so there's not much chance of that happening this year, especially with all the Colonial stuff coming out to tempt me.
The mat itself is a very high quality fleece which I know has had some bad press, but I like it.

Nice stuff, I have the cards and Blucher, but love that mat.....  A sheet of extra terrain would create a variable battlefield.....

My mat arrived today, beautiful - 15mm general European terrain.  My Blucher and cards will be getting a run out.

I went with Wall to Wall Fields for the mat. Blucher 100 Days cards will make an appearance :)

Ok the table with the French and Allied units deployed. Bit cramped but i'll have to see how the first game goes before tweaking the scenario for it to work better.
These are historical deployments, I may game this later on with a few "what ifs" Keep watching  :)
