A Beach Mat

Hi!

I finally plucked up all my courage and set out to make a gaming mat using the 'caulking technique'. I wanted something special, so I decided to make a beach.

This was a surprisingly easy and cheap project. However, there is potential for improvement: I used to much of the acrylic mass - I think a thinner layer would have done and might look better on the earth section.

What do you think? Any hints or advices for the next version?

Your mat looks great.
I really like the water part.
May I ask, what color the caulk was?
Or does it make a difference.
I have been thinking of a cheap way to make brown river water for Viet Nam.
This might be the way to go.

The caulk was white. That meant that the paint was lightened when mixed with the caulk. I was apprehensive that the water might get too pale, but it worked all right.
I think a brown river should work very well.
