He blends in very well too, a good choice.
 8) 8)

Thanks Mason :)

Its a neat little sculpt, lots of fun to paint.  Im looking forward to working on the rest of the range (there are another five mutants in the Demonblade range).

Really cool! Never liked the Demonblade miniatures a lot...but your paintjob tells me that's due to the official paintjobs

Thanks Malebolgia!  The Demonblade range is, like most ranges, up and down.  I can wholeheartedly recommend the mutants though.

And what's hanging out of his side? An ass and legs???? :D

Yep.  And massive hands with missing fingers, a hunchback and a blind eye.  Life has been cruel to poor old Quaid.  He will get revenge on his oppressors yet...

Cracking stuff. Totally agree with working in some figures from other ranges. I picked up the Citadel Don Uggi gang on ebay recently (for about £3 in the blister)

Thats quite a deal, those figures are great.

and I was going to add some Reaper Bones apes for muscle. They'll also do as a mutant Supers gang.

I have a lot of apes (and a few monkeys) lined up for similar cross genre work.  I prepare most of my miniatures for use in a variety of settings too, it makes sense to me.  Which brings me to...

Are you planning any civilians?  Andym has a good thread running on that topic at the moment.

I have a sci-fi non-combatants thread too :)  I think that I missed Andyms civilian thread (unless its his Dredd thread).  I will dig it up.

Because I want as much crossover suitability as possible, I have kept all of my sci-fi civilains together in that thread, so there are grimdark ones along with raygun gothic types and future dystopians etc.  The most obviously Dredd related civilians are these:

Not all of those are civilians, but you get the picture.

Puts my Dredd stuff in the shade! Such a great setting though, you can fit practically anything into it.

George: Kuato's a mutant, so don't get upset when you see him.

Quaid: ...

Kuato: Opthen your mind, Mithter Quaid...

Quaid: I have to tell you, I am quite upset.

Really nice painting! I especially like all the highlighting and shading of the fattie's jacket. The terrain is very well finished too. Looks like a blast to play on.

Brilliant stuff mate! Your stuff is sooo inspirational! Have you cheched out Antenocities Workshop? They do some good future cars that'll fit right in.....especially with the security hover car you have. I got a couple last week and they're in the queue on my painting table just now......

I'd assumed a couple of those on Cheetor's table were Antenociti cars, especially the red one. :)

(That's a very crisp-looking cast, too)

Love the droids, where are they from? Are they the Megaminis ones?

Such a great setting though, you can fit practically anything into it.

Its wide open alright.  Dredds world is like a huge toy box filled with thread and ideas that can be incorporated into stories, it has far more scope than most US superhero stories.  Its important to me that even if in many respects anything goes, that I make sure that anything that I do cram into my Dredd toy soldiers has the right look and feel.  Its a endless setting in terms of project idea generation though :)

Quaid: ...

I subscribe to Stan Lees theories on naming characters: keep it easy to remember.  Kuato would ave been a little too obvious (and I have difficulty remembering that name anyway) but Quaid?  Quaid is something that I can remember.

Brilliant stuff mate! Your stuff is sooo inspirational!

Thanks Andy, and right back at ya.  Whether its your Dredd pieces or your CD boards, your work is always something to aspire to.

I picked up one of the Antenociti sets to bulk out the terrain with some smaller vehicles - street and hover bikes, compact cars etc - but they are currently sitting in the box.  They will add some believable depth to the traffic when I get to them I reckon.  MC1 is teeming with people and traffic.

That red one is from Scotia Grendel actually.  Rather than list the various vehicle manufacturers in the phot above I will link to the blog post about the first batch of sci-fi traffic that I put together.  It has all the details if you want them.

Yep, the multicoloured droids are from Megaminis.  The Construction crew robots are Megaminis, Mongoose, Foundry, Ground Zero Games and the recently resuscitated Black Cat Bases.

Aye, I was just imagining Arnie's face if George opened his shirt and showed him thatlol

Oh, ta! That's an impressive motor pool. :)

A rather unflattering close up of what I am willing to tolerate as “terrain standard” painting.

I thought it was pretty good! I like the gradients you got on them all.

Love the Demonblade mutant paint job. Have you done any of the Mongoose muties yet? I'd love to see how they stack up with the guys you've painted so far.

Thanks Michka.

I have a mix of Mongoose Dredd, Citadel Dredd and Demonblade mutants on the table right now.  The Mongoose ones are a fraction taller, but y'know "mutant" :)  The Demonblade and Citadel mutants are a slightly more cartoony style, but I intend to mix the lot in together.

Im not sure which ones will get finished first, but there should be a Mongoose mutant ready to show within the month I expect.

No Judge Campbell this week, he's still en route. In the meatime we have the start of an undercity terrain set. Concreted over and left to decay, the under-city is the abode of mutants, troggies and werewolves. You heard right, werewolves. These pieces are from the Mantic Mars Attacks range, pretty much prefect for urban ruin. This set will get plenty of utility for modern and near future settings. The modular buildings from the same range are bang on too, and will give me a few multi-storey ruins.

I think I'll soon add a chem pit, and start looking about for some terrain mats. There are loads of great ones out, so I'm sure I'll find something to match. Course, I'll eventually need some denizens too, so troggies and werewolves are definitely on the list down the road.

They are taken a nice finish.
The weathering looks spot on.
 :-*

As you say, The Undercity should be well catered for by some of the newer modern ranges out there.
Even 1:48 scale dolls house furniture should make a good fit.
 ;)
