Great minds think alike Leland! I remember making a taxi/pizza delivery/civilian car out of an orange juice concentrate container. I wish I still had that  :)

Suber: Thanks! They're on the way! I'm working on the company banner, medic, and the sergeant for the first squad now. I'll post an update when those guys are done :)

It's amazing what one can do with a couple of 1970s-vintage plastic microwave dinner plates:

Or now, a broken down computer mouse:

There's more where that came from here:

Looking forward to seeing your full on Mantis Warriors force completed... it's getting my own creative Rogue Trader wheels and gears moving... 8)

Nice! Been admiring your kitbashing, trashbashing, and conversion sci fi work since last year when I found your blog. Great stuff! You use materials and parts I never would have even thought about using. I think you used a whole aisle at a craft store in some of those :) I mean that in a good way.

Glad I could get the Rogue Trader itch going again. Thanks!

Quick update. This time a Fire Hawks sergeant. I'm not too happy with the emblem on the shoulder pad yet. I want to rework it a little. That hawk is hard to paint.

More to come.

Fire Hawks! AWE-sum!

One quibble, if you don't mind: did you mean to make the cord & tassel around his forearm the same color as the arm? I think it would look better gilded. Just IMHO, and he is great. :)

Oh snap! I forgot to paint the tassle! (and the skull on the chainsword hand too...) I wasn't sure what color I wanted to do at the time. Now I'm thinking black for the company color. I think I'm settled on 5th company which is black per codex. I had already painted the flat plate on the backpack with the background as black, then with the squad number in contrasting color, and the name plate above it.

Black would be cool, maybe with a this metallic wash to glitter it up. :)

So the Mantis Warriors weren't enough, so now you have to razzle-dazzle us all with the Firehawks?! You's a hard man, PG! I like it! :D

You planning Howling Griffons as well? I'd like to do Griffons in camouflage....hmmm. :)

Anna: that's a good idea about the metallic wash. I'll try it on a test piece.

No plans for Howling Griffons, but their camo is really cool. I am planning on a Mantis Warrior Tranquility campaign sniper unit in yellow with dark green or black markings. Scoped bolters with an extended barrel. My friend is doing Sons of Medusa and another is doing Lamenters. I want to do some guest pics on the blog when they get some stuff done.

Blackwidow: I'm enjoying the Badab War immensely. It really gets the creative juices flowing...

If I'm really feeling sassy down the line, the Space Sharks errr I mean "Carcharadons" might make an appearance. Muahahaha!

Sweet. :) Maybe *I* should do a unit of Griffons?

I'm actually re-building my Blood Angels, but literally I'm doing it as a 2nd Edition force. I found my metal Captain Tycho, he's about 1/2 done. :)

Anna: 2nd edition Blood Angels? That sounds awesome. Post some pics when you get a chance. Love to see Tycho. I like the older Blood Angels style before they made them too over the top vampire like they are now.

Warburton: Mantis Warriors sergeant, company standard, and medic are in process :)
