Dave, Mila etal,
I set up 3:10 to Yuma following Dave's suggestions using "The Hit" scenario as a basis. The 3 x 3 board was set up with a clear path from the hotel to the Contention Train Station. My son in law played Dan Evans and Ben Wade (the major plot point). I played Ben's gang, intent on keeping him out of jail. I set up my 4 gang members spread out on both sides of the board, with 2 near the train station. We distributed the minor plot points, which ended up being a second "associate", Dan's son, the "Lady in Red", a street vendor and an honest citizen/bystander.
The game started with Dan Evans having the initiative. Dan and Ben moved 12" to a covered position under the awing of a building. My gang's Apache sniper tried to hit Dan but he managed to dodge all the shots. I had 2 of my gang members (followers), go down fairly quickly. One took too many hits on a failed attempt at a plot point, the second went down to Dan's accurate shooting. Even though Charlie Prince managed to successfully win two plot points, the Apache simply could not hurt Dan.
The Apache too, ultimately went down to Dan's shooting, leaving him facing Charlie Prince. Dan used another 12" run to get himself and Ben Wade to the train station. I tried one last time to take Dan out with Charlie's deadly gun fire, only to have Dan play an "Out Of Ammo" card on me!!!
The game ended with Dan getting Ben Wade securely on the train to Yuma Prison and captivity. This was a good game, made better by the special rules. Dan on one turn could not move due to Charlie's grabbing two plot points, but even that did not deter him from his mission. Good won the day, Dan survived, got his pay and saved his ranch.
Looking at the initial table set up, I had serious doubts that Dan could win, but I was very wrong.
