Last Russian Units for Stalingrad!
« on: May 09, 2015, 09:24:24 AM »
For those that have been following my Stalingrad project, I finally finished the Russian defenders with the inclusion of some anti-tank guns, more pictures on my blog:

Thanks for reading!

The shield is weird. It appears lifted straight from one of the howitzers rather than from the ZiS3, plus it is exceeding tall. I was thinking Skytrex gave you a 20mm gun instead of a 15mm one but looking at their website it appears it is their 15mm offering. Also the trail legs were supposed to be tubular rather than straight and thick. It looks more like one of the original M1936 76mm or an F-22 (M.1939) rather than a ZiS 3 (that by the way uses the same carriage of the ZiS 2).

It appears that Skytrex made the M.1936 but labelled it in a way people think it is the ZiS 3 (and still it appears too tall).

Maybe you're right, these are listed in the Skytrex lists as field guns, I figured there wasn't enough difference between them and the AT guns to really be noticeable. Or that a field gun had been pressed into service as an AT gun. I'll have a look again at some of my other models of Zis-3s and see if the difference is massively noticeable. Cheers for pointing it out.

Nice work.

One thing Flames of War taught me was being able to recognise most WWII kit. But it's still hard at times - particular with all the swapping of bits everyone did.

Thanks! Normally, I'm pretty good with the differences, I just flunked on this one! I have a spare PSC Zis-3 which I will rebase for the project, otherwise it will sit with me...
