The Lady of the Mercians
« on: 10 May 2015, 08:48:59 PM »
Decided I wanted something slightly different for the warlord of my SAGA Anglo-Saxons, so here's my take on Aethelflaed - the Lady of the Mercians. Alfred the Great's daughter is ready to wreak vengeance on the Vikings and Welsh and complete her father's mission of uniting the Angelcynn!

Lovely vignette!
Who makes that Aethelflaed figure or is it a scratchbuilt one?

Pretty sure she's a GW LoTR Eowyn, Willie. But she certainly makes a great Anglo-Saxon  :)

Thanks! As CB says, she's originally an old LOTR Eowyn figure. Her opponent is made up of a Wargames Factory Saxon fyrd body, GB Saxon thegn head and GB Dark Age Warrior shield, with LBM shield transfer.

Thanks very much!

With a slightly shorter sword she'll make a perfect 'warlady' for my Dux Brittaniarum warband.

Excellent! That was my favourite Eowyn figure and she's perfect in this role!

Wow, that is a nice vignette, very dynamic composition! Great work, and I really like the figure.

That's a really nice diorama, I especially like the muted colours you've used.

A great image of a fascinating historical character. I'm about to do an Aethelflaed for my Saga army as well!
