Anyway, finished the first batch of cars: made sure to dirty up the interiors, and also used some brushwork and washes to get in those pesky cracks, otherwise it was all that sponge technique.

I think these are looking fantastic.

Where did you find them (apologies if you already said)?

No apologies necessary, you're the first to ask.  :D
I went to college in Bloomington, Indiana and one of the Kroger stores there had a little display tower filled with diecast cars.  They were loose with a sticker on the bottom, no packaging, but I can go look on the bottom and see if there isn't a brand name on there somewhere.  :)

@eMills The cars (with the exception of the convertible, I can't even remember where I found that one so I'm clueless as to who it's made by) are by KiNSMART:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html?ie=UTF8&docId=1000926221

Small update: I've decided on a basing scheme finally, so I can start finishing things and interrupt the endless parade of WIP's  :D Unfortunately basing is quite a dull task, especially when you let this much stuff build up in the queue.  :`

Hoping to paint these soon, some Copplestone Castings Future Wars figures.  The front bunch (the Hostage response and Bareheaded Troopers blisters I think) are going to become Talon Company (I don't think it's too much of a reach that TC would wear ski masks) and the back bunch (one of the Civilian Militia packs and the Mercenaries pack) will become some nasty Paradise Falls slavers (and a few other randoms for the more innocent looking poses from the CM pack).

Also knocked up some Lego + gift card plastic file cabinets.  My fingers do their best to get in my way when doing this kind of fiddly work, but I think they came out okay in spite of myself.   ::)  I plan on doing a few more of these, a couple 3 or 4 cabinet sets, and the same for Lockers (1's and 4's).

In that picture is one of these guys (Aberrant Games CSO troopers):

I really dislike much about these figures, especially the heads.  So the more objectionable faces/neck-to-head fits I just ripped off and put some new (and nicer) heads on.

Also, question for y'all.  I have a squad of these: (GW Imperial Guard Kasrkin).  I was thinking of using them as Enclave light troops, but am a little bit hesitant about the hose-to-backpack gear as laser weapons, given that Fallout makes all its energy weapons relatively portable.  :?  Any thoughts thoughts or suggestions?

Disclaimer: those are not my figures, just grabbed a random image off of Google.  I do not paint that well.   lol

I have been doing a lot of very bland, boring stuff lately: basing and organizing figures, and working out storage for all the crap I've accumulated.  Evilbay-ed some Plasticville and got ahold of some Tamiya brick walls and Italeri Telephone poles, so things are coming together on the scenery front.  :D

I'll be gone for roughly a week starting tomorrow, so hopefully I come back to this project recharged and ready to paint (god knows the painting queue is long...the previously posted conversions, Talon Company, Slavers, giant ants, brahmin, etc...  :'( )

As a send off before my radio silence, here are the first finished (may add grass/tin cans/paper garbage to the bases yet) figures:

Granted, the figure in the duster needs his face layered and the ghoul with the machete's skin isn't quite done, but they're nearly there.

Also these Star Wars prepaint creatures I slightly touched-up.  I'm calling them whiptails for now, though Nukacabras was tempting...  lol

^ wut he sed

& the cabinets look rather cool. I use blu-tac to hold fiddly bits for gluing, saves my fingers being in the way!
If you'd like an apocalyptic monster in 28mm, throw me a PM and I'll think it over.

Thanks y'all!  The SW figures actually have half-decent detail on the bodies, but the faces and hands/weapons are pretty bad usually, I had to give up on pulling any kind of noticeable highlighting or shading on the faces.  :` When I finish up the other ones (these were the paint-only conversions, aside from the ghoul having a WF Survivors' machete rather than a bendy vibro-spear), you'll notice most involve chopping off heads and hands/weapons.  lol

@Messy so blue-tac is your point of contact when super glueing things? Or do you just use it to test fits first?  I've gone to doing that with the multi-part plastic figures and it works really well.

I either use a little cone of tac with the piece to be attached stuck to the end, or I use very fine tweezers. One is easier to find than the other.

Thanks much for the heads up on the cars.

Figures are all turning out great. I'm especially surprised at how well the Aberrant figs and Star Wars prepaints work for the setting.

I hate basing personally, so I'm using clear bases from here on out for all of my stuff.

Back home and been working on this project here and there when I get the time, very little fully finished still.  >:(  But I cut up some more WOTC bendy figures and made up a little caravan guard or merc group.  8)

Not really sure if there's an Mac-10 equivalent in the Fallout world, but I'll just call it a different version of the 9mm SMG and call it a day

When I was looking at head options for this guy, he seemed a bit small, as these figures tend to scale creep in either direction depending on the figure.  Ultimately I think it looks OK.

With no stock, this guy would not be able to hold onto his Chinese AR in real life, but I just didn't think it was worth the effort to include it.  Maybe I can steal a stock from one of the arm-less AK's in the WF survivor box.  I needed the hand on this one to replace the rubbery blobs they come with...

And just to prove that I have in fact been painting, here's what I have sitting on my painting bench! FONV style giant rats and barbed wire fences are off to the left.

I also finished the bases on the four figures I posted earlier but alas, forgot to snap a pic.  They'll get pushed to the next update.  Getting some buildings sorted out so hopefully you'll get to see those soon as well.

Question:  should I resize my photos?  They seem a bit large and I don't really do anything to them, just upload them right off my phone.  Any other photography critiques or advice is welcome as well.

Is that... is that a bottle of plaid paint? Such a product actually exists?? Please tell me they also do pinstripes, paisley and a wide range of historically authentic tartans :P

Cool figures.

Love the way these are coming together - a great collection of unique characters.

lol I have to say, I hadn't really noticed that before! It's just your typical $1.89 Hobby Lobby craft acrylic paint, Burnt Umber I believe.  Though now you have me quite curious why it says Plaid on it...

Well, it is a 9mm SMG so you are all good there.
