I never liked the green skin tone as per GW, but that's just my opinion...

Thx!  Yes it is.  I bought the box for the Defkoptas (to be converted).  However, since both body and legs of the pilot are OPC's of the craft, I decided against it and am thus now going to build an Ork force ànd a Space Marine force (talking about excuses...  )

The skin is done as follows (using my fastpaint method as already described on LAF):

The whole figure:
- grey primer
- dark brown ink
- ivory drybrush

The flesh:
- (thinned down) "old" GW Flesh Wash (other brands may do just as well)
- highlight with Foundation flesh
- wash with the new GW flesh wash.

Though this might seem as a bit of a job, it actually isn't; it only takes a couple of minutes (all operations combined).

Great! I like the "leathery skin" approach as propagated by Tolkien (iirc) and, if modified, by the DSA books. Somehow, it makes them look "more real". Nice work on the metal, too!

Thx, Chris.  I painted the metal details "gun metal" and coated them with the (new) GW black wash.  Since these washes are matt, you automatically get a "dull" (Orkish) effect.  The helmet was then washed (again & lightly) with the new GW green wash.

Super figure.  Now all you need is about 500 more.

Ha, tsk tsk, Im sure MrGeudens remembers when orcs were any colour you wanted them! I always liked bright red or luminous green for orcs, but the colour scheme here does indeed make them look more like believable aliens. Im looking forward to seeing the army done. Will there be any Ramshackle vehicles I wonder?

Ha, tsk tsk, Im sure MrGeudens remembers when orcs were any colour you wanted them! Most of the Ramshackle vehicles I still have unpainted will join the Orkies (as well as the ones on their way!

You poor creature...  Hope they never cross your path, they are the mighty Catachuruks (Catachan-Uruks, do you now see why they are clad in jungle green?  If not, google on "Catachan", you'll soon learn...).
