Bois Des Caures at Partizan 2015
« on: June 01, 2015, 09:05:54 PM »
Yesterday at Partizan James, Dave, Matt and myself presented out Bois Des Caures game at Partizan.

One of the opening actions of the Verdun campaign the date is the 22nd February 1916, the weather has broken, 80,000 shells have fallen on an area of woodland 1000m x 1500m and the Bosche are in the outlying positions.

Can Driant blunt the attack and save the city of Verdun?

Loads more pictures, orders of battle and commentary on how the game played out over on Scrivsland.

Excellent, very atmospheric - the slight darkness to the photos just adds to the wintery feel.

Not totally sure about photo 18, though.

Great looking game- was fortunate to see it at Partizan. The photos don't do it justice really.

It really was a brilliant looking game- I kept coming back to it and taking more snaps so it must have been!  :-*

Thanks chaps
It was good to have a chat with some of you. Sorry we did not get a chance Mark, I hope to get the opportunity one of these days, I'm a great admirer of your work.
As for the 'travesty' in photo 18, you don't know how many kids we got enthusiastic about searching for it, hopefully a little bright spot for them after being dragged around the show by dad all morning :)

Thank you, Glad you like it,As I said I didn't get chance to talk to all of you,as I didn't make it back round for a second time as I had to talk shop with a few companies and after Boddingtons at four quid a pint, everyone opted to continue the day in Lincoln instead.(which was great but the first and only round at Partizan was mine!which hit the profit margin a bit  lol)
The snowman was a refreshing change from 'spot the Tardis'and a great way to engage those who's chins are at table height.

I'm not sure its a travesty  ;)

It was just a bit of a surprise after much gritty realism.  :o  :)

There wasn't much fun in this battle (no Christmas truce or France vs Germany football match), so I felt quite justified adding Olaf to the proceedings.  And my daughter was pleased to receive a texted photo during the day, though she did ask her Mum, "Mummy, did Daddy steal Olaf?"   :)

I think my photos came out fairly well but haven't had a moment to download them yet!  Will post when I have them.
