Captain Walsingham and Hugo
« on: 17 October 2008, 04:48:22 PM »
I just finished this for my Lost World stuff, but thought he would do equally well in VSF as a Martian explorer.

Captain Walsingham and his trusty companion "Hugo":

Made from a VOID miniature (I think, maybe Warzone, can't really tell the difference tbh) I got off Danny the Chimp and a spare Copplestone adventurer.

I'm actually quite pleased with it, and it took less than a week to do. (That said, there are a couple of rough bits of sculpting that the photo hides, and a frankly enormous mouldline I hadn't even seen until I looked at a different picture.  :-[  I should have taken more time with it really. )

Only thing is, now I've got the idea of Martian explorers in my head, I keep looking at all those Bronze Age minis and sighing wistfully... lol

Bravo Jollybob! Love the grouchy look on the beasties face and the paint job is top notch too. ;)

Very nice JB...

Now, I think a squadron of these chaps is called for...

Another 11 please?

Oh hang it all, make it another 19! A regiment of 20 dino riders. Now that'd be a sight...  ;)

Very nice. Excellent coloring on the mount.

I have some of the Junkers Sandrunners sitting in a box with some Perry British SUdan Hussars just waiting for this kind of treatment.

Great stuff!

I've been keeping an eye on Lost World Adventures as a possible project when the VSF armies are complete. This is the sort of thing that keeps the kettle boiling for me.

I'm inspired to the point I have already dug out a rider from the pile and am now actively seeking a suitable mount.

Great job.

Very good indeed, Mr Jolly!

I happen to have a spare mounted Foundry British Officer that needs a steed. I haven't got a suitable conventionally harnessed horse and was wondering what to do with him.

This is a splendid idea - now all I need is a dino [or other beastie] of the correct size. I'm tempted by one of those Warhammer "Cold Ones" lizards, if I can find a nice cheap one.

I need to do some googling  :)

Looks fantastic Jollybob! I have to agree, he would look great in a larger unit....

A regimented unit would be very nice but more in keeping with the Lost World thingy how about a "mule train". Baggage dino's would be great as would a lady with parasol on a suitably docile herbivore.

Wonderful idea, and top notch stuff Sir Jolly Bob :)

I appear to have begun something monstrous....

Thak you all for the comments, and Svennn, that really is a good idea. I shall have to think about that myself now.  :D

Very nice figure indeed!

Now a squadron of these, hmm... must wait.

What about adding one from Eureka's miniature:
