Clash on the Fringe--1st battle
« on: July 03, 2015, 03:47:22 PM »
I got to play my first game of the new-ish rules Clash on the Fringe and had a fun time.  The game has an 80s-sci-fi feel that is quite enjoyable, and reminded me of playing 2nd edition 40k. Some pics here and more at my blog, plus a write up of the game: http://thedogsbrush.blogspot.com/2015/07/28mm-sci-fi-aar-clash-on-fringe.html

Now accepting painting and terrain-building commissions. PM for details!

The game has an 80s-sci-fi feel

While the game surface has a very 1967 feel!  Far out.

Thanks  :)

Wonderful battlefield - groovy!

How do you find the rules?

They're fun---fast moving, with plenty of action. Once you get stuck in, you get the feeling of having no place safe to stand; there's always grenades flying around, troopers rushing enemy positions, etc.  The activation system forces decisions and risk taking on the players.

The forces we used were vanilla---just grunts with assault rifles and grenade launchers. I want to try the game's many oddball weapons and unit types.

Thanks for that - sounds like a good game!

Loved the activation system from 5 Core, and the looseness of the units sounds good too.
