Nice to see some positive feedback about age of sigmar. I'm glad to see you also compared it to lotr sbg and lion rampant. Both of which I find better gaming experiences then any edition of Warhammer

yeah free is good. I downloaded all the PDFs and will probably give it a go this weekend.

Let me know what you think, a lot of people seem to have decided without playing it, which I think would be fine if it wasn't free.

We played a couple of games this evening (http://verbilgerbil.blogspot.co.uk/2015/07/first-games-of-age-of-sigmar.html)- I wasn't blown away by the system, but its not bad by any means.



I really like the battleschock system - it really felt like my goblins were slowly running away! Though lizardmen don't seem to move anywhere..

Not so keen on units not having facings, I also had my chariot shuffle sideways like a crab at one point which felt very unnatural. It was nice to get two games in in an evening despite looking up rules e.t.c.

We weren't sure if units in combat could shoot? We decided we weren't going to but we couldn't see anything saying you couldn't.. Equally we were shooting into combats.

Just had a game tonight, and am very surprised to be pleased with the results. I hadn't expected anything good to come from GW ever again, but this seems a swing in the right direction. The rules played a little like God of Battles, and are straight forwards and quick to learn. However, there does seem to be little tactical nuances, with having units (particularly heroes) supporting larger units, and other smaller rules here and there. The fact you can take whatever is on your shelf and put it down, gave the game a bit of a realms of chaos feel, I fielded High Elves with orc and goblin mercenaries and a renegade Dark elf. There's nothing to say you can't do an of that at all. Plus the rules are free so nothing to complain about.

Have you guys tried playing with any home made scenarios yet? If so would you still use sudden death rules

We just played a standard game. Looking forward to the scenarios in the box but have to wait till Saturday!
