Photos for forthcoming swashbuckling ruleset - En Garde!
« on: 08 July 2015, 11:44:49 AM »
Hi guys,

As many of you might know, January will see Osprey's release of En Garde!, a swashbuckling skirmish game by Craig Woodfield, designer of Ronin.

The game covers all kinds of swashbuckling warfare, including Tudor Sea Dogs, Caribbean pirates, Border Reivers, Landsknechts, Witch-hunters, Musketeers, Cavaliers and Roundheads, and anything else you can imagine!

I'm currently looking for photos to illustrate the book - we have 10 all-new pieces of artwork from Peter Dennis (well, 11 if you count the cover), but sometimes there's just no substitute for a nice photo of toy soldiers. Given some of the talent on this forum, I was hoping there might be some volunteers here, who would be willing to contribute some high-resolution scenic photos of swashbuckling miniatures.

Full credit would of course be given, as would a couple of free copies of the book from the advance stock (which usually reaches us about 2 months prior to release).

Please feel free to PM or email me with any questions.

Cheers!

Phil Smith
Head of Osprey Games

I'm surprised they would do another type of rule set like this after On the Seven Seas was released last year.  (By the way you can see my review of that rule set on my web site In Cold Lead http://www.incoldlead.com/on-the-seven-seas-review/).

Looking forward to it.

Maybe because On The Seven Seas was unplayable  :?

The incomparable Captain Blood has a plethora of swashbuckley miniature goodness - maybe shoot him a PM?

We don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.

I've been looking for some rules to use for Border Reivers, and I'm a big fan of the Osprey mini rules so really looking forward to these.

Are these a reprint of the old En Garde! rules from yesteryear? I remember playing in a couple of campaigns in the early 1980s. I think Margam Evans last had the copywrite.

I instantly thought the same when I read the post. Would love to see his goodness in this book.

Nope – as above, this is a new wargame by Craig Woodfield, who wrote the Ronin skirmish rules.

Is there a release-date on this? And what's the deadline for photos?

Looking forward to a good Tudor era game (would be nice not to have to adapt other rulesets to get the 16th century European feel - Ronin is adapatable, of course).

I've been doing some Dutch revolt stuff recently if any of it takes your fancy I'm sure I could get some decent photos taken (minus the fantasy stuff!). Have a look here http://theleadpile.blogspot.co.uk/search/label/Dutch%20Revolt
These rules sound right up my alley
