Near future Armoured suits
« on: 09 July 2015, 12:42:27 PM »
Just a heads up, I have these being launched in the near future, (currently being cast)

height is 42mm

more details on www.evilbearwargames.com

maybe of use to some of you guys, i had them sculpted as a tester, just to see how easy mini production can be and to help discover the pitfalls.

Cool concept, and I like the near future implications of the photo. Now I have to brain storm what to do if the gun jams or the ammo guide line gets snagged or kinked. Still needs the other grunts around for problems like that. And to keep Anti-armor of its back.
"Peace" is that brief, glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading.

Oh those crazy lads; just out of the box, and already taggin' with a pirate flag...  lol

Very interesting, but I'm more than wavering on the shield.

So those things look like they are armed with MGs. What will.the support hardsuits be armed with?

Hi

yes brush deamon painted these :)

as for the small shield, it only on the weapon support arm the idea is the shield covers exposed areas around the torso from incoming fire while its attacking, and adds balance to the suit for weight distribution, if you look there is more weight of armour on the left hand side, as that is the side that will face enemy in combat, and also counteracts the weapons weight.

The Weapon is a 7.62 x 51mm belt-fed general purpose machine gun which can be used as a light weapon and in a sustained fire (SF) role

In many ways this is the support unit for infantry fighting in areas to small for tanks and armored vehicles to get into, infantry are used in support of these suits.

There are other leg posses designed and weapon fits, and a recon version that is open topped to give the pilot a better view at a loss in protection.

In addition a heavy version is planned with a chain gun, and heavier armored plates, just in case the suits come across other suits, and fancy a tactical advantage.

extra weapon fits are twin barreled assault rifles, 2 shot anti tank rockets, automatic shotgun, riot shield, battering ram with claw (think fire and rescue).. and i may have missed a few :) these will roll out as fast as i can financially achieve and caster allow.

the spare hand on the left can be used to open doors or operate equipment or help un jam a weapon, in this picture one of the suits is holding a pistol rather than supporting the gun.

May I suggest a automatic grenade launcher and or maybe an anti-meteral rifle/gun version
And in the future a rail gun and laser option.

Those look great!  I love the idea of playing a "near future" military game, but I have not been able to find any 28/30mm solider miniatures that don't look too "Sci-fi" for my tastes.

cheers

As regards anti material rifle, currently none are in service with any armed forces as far as I'm aware, these suits are working on the idea what could be produced with the tek we have now. If such weapons do become available then yes i will have some sculpted.

Automatic grenade launcher is a big beast, much like a HMG probably to big for these suits, and as such these weapons are used at a distance probably best used from the back of a fast moving vehicle.

With trying to keep these suits more hard scifi than space marine or starship trooper they are generally being limited to weapons a normal person could carry at a push.

The suits are for supporting infantry operations and not to replace infantry.

With all that said, the arms are separate and behind the gun it is set on a ring so with a small amount of modeling skill you can effectively place any weapon you like how you like.

I'm a great fan of conversions and free thinking, I've spent years trying to convert minis to what i want, and that opportunity is i hope going to be a driving force in any minis i have produced.

Anti-material rifle is just code for large (normally .50 caliber and bigger) rifles.  So, yeah, many forces are using them.  They were given this name because of their proximity to the 14.5-20mm anti-tank rifles from WW2, and because people wanted to disassociate the idea that we're shooting people with .50 caliber "sniper" rifles.  So they became anti-material rifles.  Ie. "Oh, we use them to shoot technicals and light vehicles...and people if we need to".
