Here comes a pic of the gaming board i'd used this last week-end for a Lotow demo game, that took place during the GNF 9 french convention.

Aside form using Whitewash City PDFs as templates for cutting balsa or foamcore, what is a good way to get measurements for authentic looking western buildings?

My buildings tend to be big for playability reasons, but I like 2.5 high per story and about 5-8 inches wide, depending on the building. Stores would be smaller, while hotels, stables, would be wider. That's how I roll anyway.

About the good way to get measurement for buildings, for the first one i'd made i simply used one of my based mini to find the right size for doors and windows (i mean one size that seems looking goods to me), so in fact i guess it is just a matter of taste...

We work from photos (Timelife books are a good source) but tend to go by look - if it looks right then it's fine - and start from a basic principle of making all buildings on either A4 or A5 sized bases at present. Why ? Fairly straightforward - we store the finished buildings in boxes that A4 photocopy paper was delivered in. Not elegant, but it works for us.

I have measurements on some ghost town buildings and wild west era places either measured locally or taken from Sanborn maps. What are you looking for?
