Argonor's Attempts on Frostgrave
« on: August 01, 2015, 01:07:52 AM »
Well, as Frostgrave doesn't seem to fit in my other threads, I think I just have to start a new one.

Duregar and I shared a Level 5 and level 1 Nickstarter deal (to get 2 rulebooks with treasure counters and plenty of wizards to go around):

Then I set about unearthing some age-old minis to use (funnily enough, they all seem to be of Citadel origin):

And we ordered, and received, a big box of ruins from Ziterdes:

In the meantime I got an idea regarding an alternative build of a Thaumaturge warband, and Thus I ordered some minis from West Wind (not yet arrived), and found my plastic Fireforge Templar Infantry and Foot Sergeants:

More to follow. and I'll go into more detail on my blog.
Ask at the LAF, and answer shall thy be given!

Looks like you're off to a flying start!

Looking forward to seeing how the ruins turn out too :)

Well, the ruins are going to be used as they are, as I want them usable for other settings, too.

I may get some snow flock to sprinkle on when used for Frostgrave, but icicles and permafrost are not going to happen.

I shall probably make some snow pieces (drifts and patches) to place in/among the ruins along the way, though.

And I just realized that some of the old minis are, indeed, not Citadel, but Metal Magic. Shouldn't be posting at these late hours...  ::)

That metalmagic wizard on the top left is quite brilliant. I have one painted up for Song Of Blades and Heroes.

Looking forward to seeing where this goes. Allready off to a good start.

Thanks, he was painted as representing an evil player character wizard I had participating in my D&D campaign many yeaers ago. The thief was actually his younger brother, but now the model is going to represent an apprentice  lol

The table terrain test:

And some models I am working on:

2' x 2'? The table looks spot on to me. Nice and claustrophobic.  :D

Nope, it's 3x3  :D

I intend to make some pieces of 'snow terrain' to place in and among the ruins, which will probaly enable us to switch to a 4x4 table for games with multiple warbands, but it may take a while before I get around to that.

Thanks - ordered some models from Ziterdes to bring my collection of ruins up to this size - have been needing an excuse for that in ages  lol

They are made of lightweight dense foam - which means they can easily be customized, if one should find it necessary to buy several copies of the same sculpt.

I don't think I shall need to do so, but should the need arise, it is nice to have that option!

Table looks good. :)

Some walkways might be nice: To get some 3d action to the games. Either way, that's another terrain-set I look forward to taking a look at at the Attic Attack  :D

Ziterdes belongs to (is associated with?) the German modeltrain-terrain manufacturer NOCH. Their terrain is very good for putting on the table at once without much ado. Though a bit on the expensive side, they are also a good point to start with when making it more suitable for ones special needs.
best wishes

Ziterdes scenery is also sold by Thomarillion, should they be easier to order from.
