Muskets and Tomahawks AAR
« on: August 08, 2015, 07:12:46 AM »
Played a game of Muskets and Tomahawks with JimBibbly and Malamute this week. Scenario was 'Slaughter' with the objective being for the Indians to kill the settlers - here are some pictures.  All figures are from Galloping Major with a few Perry civilians.

Rangers deploy expecting trouble

Second unit of rangers take cover behind the fences

Ranger officer redeploying some of his men "over there behind me"

The indians, having observed the Rangers deploying around the house and along the fences, arrive at the wooded edge of the settlement and promptly torch one of the undefended houses

'I can smell burning sir!' - The Rangers redeploy to counter the indian threat

Sensing trouble and being in no mood for a close haircut, the civilians decide to make a run for it

The action develops

The Rangers advance through the settlement to take on the indians

Meanwhile, the war-party make use of a lull in the fighting to toast a racoon and finish off some beadwork leggings

Gratuitous scenic shot using Bibbly's lovely background

View from the other end of the street: the indians and rangers exchange musket fire while the civilians flee for their lives

It's all gone horribly wrong:  Chief 'Hordes Many Things' pushes the indians on to charge the Rangers, throwing tomahawks and knives on the way in.  The Rangers take heavy casualties in the ensuing melee and when their officer is scalped they gallantly leg it, leaving the civilians to be slaughtered.

While Hordes Many Things and his braves make light work of the women and children, more indians arrive to take on the remaining rangers

More backdrop photography

Reinforcements arrive; the provincial militia arrive on the scene, but are they too late?

Yes they are; with both the Ranger units put to flight and over half the settlers slaughtered the provincials can do little other than escort the survivors to safety.

A few indians pose for publicity shots for the 'Scalping Monthly' and 'Which Tomahawk?' photographers

'Stop shooting at them and get yourself over there before we're all scalped'

A few surviving rangers take a final shot before retiring into the woods
