Lovely stuff and giving me pangs of guilt as my Old West idles while I pander to my AWI collections.
However, last week I attended an event near where I live where I got to see real live cavalry in action on horseback in drill and in camp, talked to a couple of them, too. And down the road a bit were a few buffalo soldiers who were quite happy to talk to someone who knew some of their history. One of those gentleman's grandfathers served in one of the regiments - I think he said 10th but not sure. And there was a piece of period ordinance (actually earlier but would have been used in period) being shot off. And there were even native Americans doing dances to honor veterans. And there was even a steam locomotive pulling a train for the tourists.
Yes, I have photos and videos but, alas, they are on my mini iPad which I haven't hooked up to email yet. Maybe someday I'll be able to post it up.
Really need to work more on the Old West - made progress this year but there is so much to do and not enough time to work on it. Real life keeps getting in the way.
But, again, enjoying watching this collection transform.
