This thread, and that article, have really captured my interest for trying Saga (I'm not keen on historical). I just wish it was easier to get Saga rules/dice in Canada!  I was able to order the e book of DR very easily, and a hard copy from Amazon (plus no special dice needed).

That said, I'm going to keep trying. I'm hoping I wont have to order direct from Gripping Beast in Europe, due to shipping times/cost and exchange rates etc.

Note you don't have to buy the saga dice. You can download the symbols from the Saga website and print them off, stick them to dice. Or buy blank dice and paint on your own - seriously this is what I did. Or just use numbered dice - this is all you need to play fantastic saga anyway as it's not designed with symbols.

That is correct. You need some normal dice and that is it.

Hey there, seldon! Thx!

btw... I attached a little something I just made... it is not pretty, but it will do its job just fine.
It is a PDF with a timeline showing the different steps throughout a Melee in SAGA.
I bet a lot of people will find this very handy.
Edit: Ok. Weird. Seem LAF wont let me attach the PDF.
In which case... we have to try something else:
http://www.tabletopwelt.de/index.php?app=core&module=attach&section=attach&attach_id=287911
There we go. That should work.

I also got a teaser for our next release:

So long, guys! Have fun!

I'm just gathering the last bits for my OGaM and 7th Voyage projects... seems I'll be able to use some of the stuff here, too :D

Yeah, that is the beauty of it. I really like it when I can use the same miniatures for several game systems.

Of Gods And Mortals certainly is a good match for AFS. Especially if you think about statements I made earlier.
They are all still true. My plans are still to give AFS more a feel of an Antiquity timeline, rather than happening in medieval times.
There will be Pseudo-Romans posing as our "Empire", there will be Celts. Maybe even more, might also do Persians.

Greetings!
Barb

Aw man, all I see for the "preview" above is a blank white space!

I'm eager to try A Fantastic Saga, this is what I've been looking for!

Really?
I can see the images. Does anyone else have problems with them?

Only that I really want to be in those images playing those games. I really like the sound of going for a more mediterranean antiquity feel. If you ramp up the fantasy enough one could justify everything from Assyrians and New Kingdom Egyptians to classical Greeks to Republican Romans to Persians to Successors to Indians and Persians and a bunch of other stuff on the table. After all, what I really need is an excuse to get some big ol' boxes of Victrix ancients and supplement those with some metal chariot age stuff, right? :P

Exactly.  lol

And you are lucky. The "Archaeans" are finished. I am currently working on the artwork and background, but rule-wise they are done.

And they are a lot of fun, trust me.

Assyrians, Persians, Babylonians are basically the matrix for the Undead in AFS. If you read the background you will see that the "plague of the Undead" started somewhere in the South-East and that travellers tell about deserted cities with giant ziggurats swarming with Undead...

And yes, the Romans will make an appearance too.
Simply called "The Empire". Quite practical. Cause people can read a lot into that name. I am certain there will be a lot of people using Warhammer-Empire-miniatures to depict our "Empire" in AFS.

But it will be obvious that they are some kind of Roman, of course. With troops called "Legionnaries" and "Praetorians" and Saga Abilities with names like "Testudo" or "Incursio"...

All of that sounds great. Really very excited about it all.

On a side note, is it possible to make smaller versions of the PDFs? The file sizes are all large - which isn't really a problem, but rendering them on tablets sometimes takes a while. Very minor quibble though, of course.

I will ask my pal who puts those PDFs together.

The Archaeans are basically finished now, said pal just got the material from me and just has to do the layout for the PDF now.
Meanwhile I have been working on the artwork for the faction after the Archaeans, the Troglodytes:

Nasty cave-dwellers! Coming soon!  ;D
